Upon arrival at Zakynthos airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your host, Antonio, who will transfer you to your accommodation in Laganas. Known as the nesting ground of the endangered Caretta-Caretta sea turtle, Laganas offers a beautiful and vibrant setting that will serve as your base for this unforgettable culinary journey.
Take your time to unpack and settle into your new surroundings. Once you're comfortable, you’ll have the chance to meet your hosts, Antonio and Effie, who will introduce you to the wonderful itinerary, tours, and activities planned for you throughout the week.
Celebrate your first evening on the enchanting island of Zakynthos with a seaside welcome dinner, set against the magical coastal panorama of Laganas Bay.
Your special night begins with a chilled glass of ouzo, setting the tone for an authentic taste of Greek island life. Soon, a vibrant seafood platter arrives—brimming with freshly caught treasures from the surrounding waters. Savor tender calamari, grilled sardines, marinated anchovies, and a variety of other flavorful small fish. As you dine, let your gaze wander across the iconic silhouette of Turtle Island (Marathonisi), the serene shores of Pelouzo Island, and the postcard-perfect charm of Cameo Island. The sweetest adventures are just beginning.
Start your day the Greek way, with a wholesome traditional breakfast: free-range eggs, warm village-style bread fresh from the oven, thick strained Greek yogurt drizzled with local honey, and a fresh fruit salad. Simple, satisfying, and bursting with flavor.

After some rest, join Effie for a hands-on cooking class that celebrates Greece’s sweet and savory culinary heritage. You’ll learn to make Galaktoboureko, a rich, creamy semolina custard wrapped in flaky phyllo and soaked in syrup, as well as the legendary Greek Baklava, filled with spiced nuts and sweetened with honey. Effie warmly welcomes questions, as she’s proud to share her knowledge and passion for Greek cuisine. You’ll also learn to make Spanakopita, Greece’s beloved spinach and feta pie.
Before dinner, let yourself go in the skilled and charismatic hands of Andriana, our certified yoga instructor and bodywork practitioner. Her intuitive massage blends techniques from therapeutic bodywork, fascia release, and deep tissue to help you reconnect with your breath, melt away tension, and feel fully grounded. Guests often describe it as a reset for body and mind, leaving them deeply relaxed, lighter, and realigned.

Your culinary experience continues with a visit to the historical Zakynthos Town with Effie, after breakfast. Wander through the charming alleys of the Old Town, uncovering hidden gems as you soak in the rich history, culture, and unique architecture and echoes of the island’s Venetian past. A highlight of the morning is a visit to the impressive St. Dionysius Church, dedicated to the island’s beloved patron saint.
As you step inside, you'll be immersed in the beauty of Greek Orthodox architecture and tradition. Admire the ornate wall paintings and sacred icons that vividly depict scenes from the Bible, and learn about the life and miracles of Saint Dionysius, a symbol of peace, compassion, and forgiveness. While there, you’ll have the chance to receive a blessing, light a candle, and make a prayer to the saint, a moving and meaningful experience that connects you to the spiritual heart of Zakynthos.

Your final stop of the day is Callinikas Winery, nestled in the lush countryside. Here, you’ll uncover the secrets of Zakynthian winemaking, learn about local grape varieties, and enjoy a guided tasting of four distinct wines. It’s a sensory journey through the island’s winemaking traditions, an enriching way to end a day filled with flavors, stories, and scenery.
After returning to Spiros Family Apartments, take some time to unwind, or enjoy a refreshing swim, before you join Effie in the kitchen to learn how to make Armenovil, a sensational ice cream recipe, originated in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. This delightful dessert features a rich vanilla cream, blended with caramelized almonds, crunchy meringue bytes, and ribbons of rich chocolate. A perfect harmony of textures and flavors, makes each bite a true indulgence.
You’ll also start preparing the batter for Loukoumades, these small, fluffy dough balls that are fried until golden and drizzled with honey. This will rest and rise while you enjoy a homemade dinner before you set off with Antonis to the dramatic cliffs of Keri, where you’ll witness a breathtaking sunset over Mizithres rocks. Today, embark on a journey into the heart of Zakynthos’s rich heritage, with Antonio as your driver and local guide. He’ll take you north, where a day of cultural immersion and authentic island flavors awaits. The adventure begins with driving through traditional mountain villages that remain beautifully untouched by time. As you wind through narrow stone lanes and admire old homes, flourished neighborhoods and churches, you’ll feel the rhythm of Zakynthian life as it once was and still is in these hidden corners.
Next stop is at Anafonitria Monastery, a peaceful and important spiritual site, where Saint Dionysios lived. Here, you’ll learn about his inspiring true story that made him a lasting symbol of forgiveness. Around midday, we will take our lunch in a peaceful, rustic mountain taverna, known for its authentic island dishes. Batteries recharged, we will continue to the local agora (market), where you can taste everything from honey and handmade marmalades to mandoles (a local treat), liquers and much more.
You’ll also find unique crafts and artworks, from hand-painted ceramics to delicate embroidery, each piece echoing the island’s traditions and artistic soul. Next, embark on an incredible turtle boat trip. Spot and even swim alongside some of the graceful loggerhead turtles. Swim at the breathtaking Keri caves and next to the heavenly “Marathonisi Island", natural and intriguing, with beautiful sands and caves to explore, it’s the perfect place for snorkeling, swimming or just a paddle.
In the evening, join your hosts and fellow guests for a delicious Moussaka dinner with the halva you helped to prepare for dessert.
Today, you have the opportunity to spend the day as you wish - swimming and relaxing at Kalamaki beach, for example, is always popular! Here, you’ll also have the chance to meet the National Marine Park Guards, who are always happy to share their expertise about the Caretta-Caretta turtles with island visitors. Ask questions, hear stories, and learn even more about the turtles' delicate life cycle, nesting behavior, and the ongoing conservation efforts that keep this incredible species alive.
With a beach restaurant on site, there’s no need to even leave this slice of paradise. With the sun and the tickle of the waves against your toes, what more could you possibly ask for?
In the evening, dress up for our night out at “Dennis” tavern. Tonight, we will enjoy a traditional festive Greek dinner, with a great BBQ, local wine, and Greek live music and dancing. Enjoy the sounds of the bouzouki while learning how to dance syrtaki, embracing and celebrating the traditions of a rich and beautiful culture. A grand finale to a great week!
This morning, make the most of your final moments to do a little last-minute shopping on Laganas Main Street, or head to Laganas beach, to feel the softness of the water, one final time. You will be taken to the airport or port in plenty of time for your departure.
After an incredible week stuffed with rich, local and authentic experiences and cuisine, you’ll feel Zakynthian through and through - and definitely a member of our family! We’ll miss you, as you go!

The program is suitable for all from beginners to advanced levels. Your hosts and tutors are locals speaking fluent English and all activity classes are taught in English. Many people on the course travel solo, and this course attracts guests from around the world for a wonderfully sociable and creative experience. Many solo guests travel on this holiday and the groups are fun and sociable. Each guest is allocated a private ensuite room with a fridge and fully equipped kitchen and there is no single supplement.
