Overview

Prepare for unforgettable hiking experiences amidst some of Sweden's most awe-inspiring scenery. Even without scaling towering peaks, this region promises unparalleled natural beauty, ranging from sandy beaches and dense pine forests to mesmerizing canyons crafted from Nordingrå granite.

This excursion caters to both novice and seasoned hikers, requiring only a normal level of fitness to participate. You need not be an athlete to join in on this adventure.

Daily tour schedule

Day 1

Your journey begins with the exciting task of outfitting everyone with camping gear and getting to know yourselves as you board the night train from Stockholm, setting the course northward. Travelling by sleeper train ensures you're well-rested for the adventures ahead.

Day 2

Early in the morning, you disembark the train and jump on a brief bus ride to reach Skulleskogen National Park, where your hiking expedition begins. Throughout the day, the knowledgeable guide leads you through the picturesque forest, unveiling the area's highlights.

By late afternoon, you arrive at the coast, establishing camp for the night. Here, you cook dinner on an open fire and enjoy some storytelling.

You eagerly anticipate glimpses of the northern lights (of course, you need some luck to do so). For the energetic souls, there's the option to explore parts of the coast (without the heavy backpack) before nightfall.

Day 3

Following yesterday's exploits, you relish a leisurely start to the morning, savoring breakfast and coffee against the backdrop of breathtaking campsite views.

Your journey continues with further exploration of the highlights of Skulleskogen National Park, culminating in your second forest campsite. After dinner, exhaustion from the day's adventures likely ushers in early slumber, preparing you for tomorrow's early rise.

Day 4

You start this day early by hiking the short way back to the bus station where you arrived two days before and start your trip back to Stockholm. As this train goes during the daytime, you have the chance to enjoy the landscapes that the Swedish countryside has to offer.

Location

The tour will take place in Höga Kusten (The High Coast of Sweden). Rich in biodiversity, the area is home to a plethora of wildlife, including roe deer, hares, squirrels, foxes, badgers, martens, ermines, minks, and the iconic moose.

With luck, you may witness one of the world's seven natural wonders—the enchanting Aurora Borealis, also known as the northern lights—painting the night sky.
