You are situated in one of three semi-attached stone cottages. Each is representative of one of the three realms of existence: primal, human, and heavenly, while each of the seven rooms has been designed to represent one of the seven major chakras that govern the way Suncokret Dream thinks, feels, and acts. No matter your choice of cottage or room, your stay will enhance the holistic nature of your experience.

Earth and fire cottage - the primal realm

Single rooms in a traditionally furnished Dalmatian-style cottage with a warm and grounding feel. This cottage is air-conditioned and features three private single rooms, each with a ceiling or desk fan. Cottage residents share the cottage bathroom, which is located on the ground floor, and the bedrooms are located on the upper floor of the cottage. Rooms one and three are furnished with a single bed and room two has a double bed.

The ground floor features the main retreat kitchen and dining area, which is open to all retreat participants until 10:00 p.m. There is also an enclosed garden with dining and lounge areas, as well as an outdoor yoga terrace. Booking priority for rooms in this cottage is given to solo travelers or a family of four, willing to share the communal areas (kitchen, dining room, garden, etc.) during the retreat.

Wind and air cottage - the human realm

Double rooms in a little stone cottage, with a comfy-cozy feel. This cottage features two cozy bedrooms, a quaint cottage bathroom, a kitchenette with a stovetop and kettle, and a patio with a view of the veggie garden, a hammock, and a seating area for four persons. The cottage has air-conditioning, heating, and free Wi-Fi. Room four features a romantic-style metal-framed double bed and can be fitted with a set of twin beds upon request.

Room five is furnished with a set of twin beds which can be placed side by side to form a double. It is possible to book this cottage exclusively for two-four persons. Booking priority is generally given to two friends traveling together or family members traveling together on retreat, though rooms four and five may be booked as a private room by a solo traveler or couples, too.

Ether cottage - the heavenly realm

Bright attic rooms with private, en-suite bathrooms in a cottage with a light, heavenly feel. These elegant and minimalistic attic doubles come equipped with private, en-suite bathrooms and en-suite air-conditioning with cooling and heating options. Room six, mini-suite, features a double bed and is ideal for a solo traveler in need of additional privacy and comfort while on retreat or a young couple.

Room seven, the master suite, is furnished with a set of twin beds that can be placed together to form a double bed for a couple. The cottage residents share a kitchenette and outdoor sundeck with lounge furniture. The cottage is situated adjacent to the indoor yoga loft space, which features a lounge corner and spiritual library. Booking priority for the master suite is given to friends or couples traveling together while the mini-suite may be booked by a solo traveler or a couple.

Program

The eternal question is how to achieve inner peace and what can help you stay there. It is not by having a better job, more money, or a relaxing holiday. It is by finding balance in your life and learning how to reach that place of bliss and happiness, a place from which you find your strength, energy, and wisdom and where you find the platform to be all you want to be. That is where yoga, TRE® (tension release exercises), and essential oils come in.

Who is this for?

This program is for anyone looking to find their own way to inner peace through yoga, TRE®, and essential oils. This event will be conducted in English with Croatian translations available.

Approach

In this week's program, along with co-hosted together with TRE® and essential oils expert, Davorka Tolic, you will begin at the end - connecting to where you are now and becoming more aware of the quality of life you are living. The goal will be to recognize what creates stress within you and learn to awake your natural mechanisms for releasing stress through gentle, mindful yoga, TRE, and the use of essential oils of therapeutic quality. Together, you will combine these tools to release stress and achieve the inner peace you so want and need.

The daily Yoga Sadhana will focus on helping you connect to the inner space within you that is already at peace, while the daily deep-dive sessions will center on experiencing the power of TRE in combination with essential oils, exploring further what your body needs, revealing layer after layer your inner self, and reaching that inner peace. The daily outings are intended to sweep you off to peaceful nature havens where you can relax and rejuvenate your way, and there will be an opportunity to visit a local spa or hang back at the retreat for some optional TLC.

What is TRE®?

TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking or vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.

Since this shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of your natural behavior as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE. This shaking of the muscles increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses, or traumas from accidents.

TRE® benefits include:

  • Less worry and anxiety
  • More energy and endurance
  • Less workplace stress
  • Better sleep
  • Less relationship conflict
  • Reduced muscle and back pain
  • Increased flexibility
  • Greater emotional resiliency
  • Healing of old injuries
  • Lessened anxiety surrounding serious illness
  • Relief from chronic medical conditions

Location

Suncokret is located in Dol Sveta Ana, a pristine, 12th-century hamlet located just five minutes away from the island's oldest settlement, Stari Grad, yet discreetly tucked away from holiday crowds. A retreat at Suncokret in Dol Sveta Ana provides an ideal escape from ordinary life to a true organic oasis for the soul. The Suncokret retreat center is nestled into a secluded hilltop of Dol, Sveta Ana, which remains unpopulated most of the year.

Dol

Dol is an ancient settlement whose first inhabitants date back to prehistoric times. It is a place that evokes a deeper sense of connection to a simpler, more wholesome way of life and is the homeland of your co-host, Stipe, and his family. Often compared to Provence and Tuscany, Dol is beautifully nestled into a lush and majestic green landscape, which is pronounced by lavender fields, olive groves, vineyards, and pinewood forest, and beautifully framed by the distant blue sea and sky.

The village features two restaurants and a cafe. There are no ATMs, banks, or shops, but plenty of peace and quiet to help you disconnect from the stresses of modern-day life. Stari Grad is two kilometers from the retreat and can be reached on foot.

Hvar Island

Hvar, the ancient Persian word for Sun God, is rated amongst the 10 most beautiful and sun-drenched islands in the world, and it is one of the richest historically and culturally. Its earliest inhabitants date back to pre-historic times, and it is the center of early Croatian literature, architecture, sculpture, painting, and music, second only to Dubrovnik.

Hvar has 299 square kilometers of rocky, pebble, and sandy beaches and is surrounded by brush and pine forest, aromatic medicinal herbs such as lavender, sage, and rosemary, and is rich with Mediterranean vegetation and exotic wildlife. With its crystal clear sea, fresh aromatic breezes, colorful villages, and majestic, sun-bleached towns, Hvar is the ideal place for a magical journey into an ancient culture and to the deepest seed of your soul.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by bus

From Zagreb Airport (ZAG), you can also book a bus transfer with Flixbus to Split which takes approximately two hours and then a ferry from Split to Stari Grad. When you arrive at the Stari Grad port, you will be picked up by Suncokret Dream at 4:30 p.m. to be transferred to the resort.

A bus operated by Croatia Airlines departs from just outside the terminal door. You buy the ticket from the driver 30 HRK (4 EUR). It takes about 30 minutes to get to the city center. There is also a local bus that goes to the bus station in Split to and from Trogir every 20 minutes from a stop on the road in front of the airport terminal. The price of the ticket is approximately the same.

Arrival by ferry / boat

The way to get to Hvar Island is by ferry. There are four major ports on the island, including one in Hvar Town, one in Stari Grad, one in Jelsa, and one in Sucuraj. The closest port to the retreat is the Stari Grad Port. Tickets from Split to Stari Grad cost 47 HRK (6.5 EUR) per person, or 318 HRK (42.5 EUR) per car, one way. No advanced reservation is needed for foot passengers, though it is best to buy in advance if you are coming by car.

If possible, try to match your travel plans with the retreat start and end times, in which case, the most convenient connection is the 2:30 p.m. ferry from the Split Port arriving in the Stari Grad Port at 4:30 p.m. Upon return, you can catch the free transfer service back to the Stari Grad Port of Suncokret Dream at 10:45 a.m. in order to catch the 11:30 a.m. ferry back to Split Port on departure day. The ride from the port to the retreat takes about five minutes. From late June to late September, it is usually possible to ferry directly to Stari Grad from Dubrovnik.

Departures are usually scheduled on Sundays at 7:00 a.m., arriving in Stari Grad at 4:30 p.m. From June 1st to October 1st, there is a catamaran line departing Dubrovnik at 7:00 a.m. and arriving on the island at 10:30 a.m. This option would give you plenty of time to enjoy the sites in Hvar Town before taking a bus to the Stari Grad port where Suncokret Dream would collect you and the others from at 4:30 p.m.

There is a luggage office right in the main square in Hvar, as well as showers and you can even swim during your time in the town. There is another catamaran operated by Krilo that departs Dubrovnik every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. From May 7th to August 31st, arriving in Hvar Town at around 7:35 p.m., from September 1st to October 27th departing at 4:00 p.m. and arriving at 7:05 p.m. From Hvar Town, you would take a taxi to the retreat.

Arrival by taxi

If you plan to arrive or depart at other times or from arrival points other than the Stari Grad Port, it is best to check your options and then take a taxi to the retreat upon arrival. Taxis are readily available at all ports, though you can pre-order one here. To find the bus or taxi station from Hvar Town, you need to walk along the promenade and through the town square to get to the bus and taxi terminal. Taxi fares to the retreat from the ports cost about 15 EUR from Stari Grad, 25 EUR from Jelsa, and 40 EUR from Hvar.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 16.94% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
