Accommodation
The retreats use the whole of Sunny Brow Farm's luxury barn accommodation, for sleeping and dining. The communal eating is in the Old Dairy.
For your personal accommodation, choose from one of the two private rooms in the Old Dairy that share one bathroom or a twin or double share en-suite room within the Hayloft.
Or treat yourself to a premium barn for two, in the Sunny Brow Barn or Bracken Barn. In these barns, you have the addition of your own private living space. All barns have a log burner and kitchen for your use.
Hayloft
- 2 twin or double en-suite bedrooms. Bedrooms are also available as private double en-suite bedrooms
Sometimes this barn is also the yoga studio, please enquire if this is of concern.
Old Dairy
- 2 private rooms: 1 double, 1 single. These two rooms share a bathroom (twin sinks)

This 4-day initiation retreat will include sacred massage, deeply nourishing yoga, connection to your senses, time in the circle, a ritual to recognize the mysteries of the feminine, ceremony to honor and empower your heart and soul, including All Nations inipi sweat lodge ceremony. This retreat is for you if you feel ready to step out of the shadows and shine in your truth.

Suzy and Jane have been creating intuitive retreats together for 8 years. They are passionate about empowering women to awaken to the best of themselves. Their retreats arise from guidance, are magically creative, and are just a little bit wild. Together, they hold a safe space where you can choose how deep you want to dive within.

Suzy-Anne Saunders
Suzy is the owner and manager of Sunny Brow Farm Holistic Retreat. Suzy is a professional yoga teacher, shamanic practitioner, inner dance facilitator, holistic therapist and Reiki master, macrobiotic and healing food practitioner, and a devoted and blessed mum of three beautiful souls. She came to holistic living and spiritual development in her early twenties, starting her holistic teacher and facilitator training with yoga in 2006, and is currently still adding to her skill set and 'All Nations sweat lodge training. In April 2018 her cookbook ‘Conscious Cookery’ was published.
Jane Alexander
Jane Alexander runs her own teaching and spiritual healing practice in Cumbria through which she offers her intuitively guided sessions, readings and workshops. Jane is an instinctive mystic, soul aware facilitator and accidental musician, who weaves shamanic-style transformative workshops and retreats. Sound plays a powerful role in Jane’s work. She uses her voice, words and non-linguistic chanting to facilitate altered states of consciousness.
Location
Sacred Woman Initiations are held at Sunny Brow Holistic Retreat Centre, near Ambleside in Cumbria. Sunny Brow Farm is a Cumbrian farm surrounded by beautiful English countryside within the Lake District National Park. The barns have been lovingly restored into 4 beautiful cottages, using natural materials, and whilst keeping the original features blends old with new. Guests can enjoy the luxury of the barn accommodations, holistic therapies, and natural cuisine. Enjoy a space to relax and revitalize, connect to nature, and retune to your own flow.

Driving directions from M6
- Take exit 36 and head northwest towards Kendal and Windermere
- At Sizergh, the road becomes the A591 but keep driving straight ahead towards Kendal and Windermere
- You will pass Kendal and arrive at a large roundabout, take the second exit (straight on) towards Windermere
- When you arrive at Windermere, carry on following the A591 to Ambleside
- When you arrive on the outskirts on Ambleside (Waterhead), you will come to a junction with traffic lights, turn left here onto the A5059 Borrans Road, you will pass the Waterhead pub, and through a twisting section of roadway
- When the road straightens out, take the left hand turning after the rugby club ground (signposted to Coniston and Hawkshead)
- Follow this road around to the bridge, then turn left going over the bridge. You will now be on the A593
- After approximately one mile, take a left-hand turn onto the B5286 towards Hawkshead, driving over the Brathay bridge
- After approximately 1.5 miles, take a sharp right-hand turn, there is a signpost here for The Drunken Duck Inn
- Drive up the hill and straight past the Drunken Duck Inn and after 3/4 mile, the driveway to the farm is on the right-hand side
Arrival by bus
From the Windermere train station, you can catch the 505 bus. If you are feeling adventurous, you can ask the driver to drop you at the junction for The Drunken Duck Inn and Sunny Brown Farm, it’s a short two miles walk from there.
Please note, if you choose to use public transport to get there, not only will they pick you up and drop you off in Hawkshead, but they will also pay for your first full days bus pass (worth up to 22 GBP), which will give you unlimited travel within the Central Lakes Bus network
Arrival by train
The nearest train station is in Windermere. From Windermere’s train station, you can use local transportation to reach Hawkshead Village. Free of charge transfer from Hawkshead Village is available upon request but you have to call or email at least two weeks prior to your arrival to arrange this. On your departure, they would take you to Hawkshead Village too.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
