In Spain, the word cuisine is written in capital letters. It has not taken long for the whole world to start talking about Spanish cuisine; nowadays it is at the top of the world charts since some experts admire the creativity, innovative capability, diversity, and strength of their cuisine.
Tandem Escuela Internacional Madrid offers different types of accommodation for students, so as to suit their personal needs and interests. All accommodations are carefully selected in order to provide the same level of quality for everybody.
It is very important to choose the right type of accommodation based on your personal characteristics, like your interests, age, budget, and the length of your stay. The accommodation you choose will help you complement your learning activities and allow you to discover Madrid in different ways.
The decision to stay with a host family will undoubtedly offer you a true Spanish living experience. You will speak Spanish all day, thereby allowing you to enjoy the maximum benefit of your course, as well as provide you with a comprehensive view of the day-to-day life in a different culture.
Your host family will be composed of parents and children, couples without children, or individuals living alone, all of which enjoy the company of others and look forward to the opportunity to share their culture.
Most host families will be able to offer an internet connection with Wi-Fi. In the event that you come with another person, they offer double rooms and it is not necessary that your roommate takes a course.
You will receive a set of your own house keys so that you can come and go as you please. Also, you will be able to receive calls on your host family's landline. Some host families offer you a private bathroom in your bedroom, at an extra cost.
This is a privileged accommodation in the heart of Madrid's Barrio de las Letras. It is a five-minute walk from the Puerta del Sol and a 10-minute walk from Tandem. The private apartment accommodation is designed for people who want to have their own space, comfort, and convenience.
All apartments have fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, plus everything you need for cooking. All apartments have access to a large terrace with magnificent views of Madrid, the mountains, and surrounding area. Daily cleaning of the apartments is served.
There are two types of private apartments: the studio apartment and Apartment A. The first one is for one or two people if you are a couple. The studio has a double bed, living room, bathroom, kitchen, and terrace with views of Madrid.
Apartment A is for two or three people with a separate bedroom with double bed or twin beds as requested, living room with sofa bed for one person, bathroom, kitchen, and terrace with views of Madrid.
Fully renovated three and four-bedroom apartments are decorated in an elegant and functional style, located in a quaint neighborhood, close to a variety of restaurants, bars, grocery shops, and coffee shops. The subway station is at five minutes walking distance.
The layout and size of these shared flats are conducive to shared living and guarantee independent access to shared spaces like the kitchen, living room, and at least one bathroom. The most common apartment is a three-bedroom that can house up to four students.
The apartment’s open-concept living room design makes a very spacious place. The living room leads into the fully equipped modern kitchen. Each room comes with one desk and chair per bed and a full-size closet. Next to the bedrooms, there is a modern bathroom with a window and walk-in shower.

The students' residence is located in the heart of Madrid, close to all important things to see in Madrid. It is a five-minute walk from Puerta del Sol and a ten-minute walk from Tandem. It is located in Barrio de las Letras, Madrid‘s bustling shopping district.
The residence offers 29 private and double bedrooms, bedrooms with a private bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen and dining room, computers, Wi-Fi, washing machine, and dryer. There is daily cleaning service and bed linens are changed on a weekly basis. The residence also offers a cafeteria in which you could have breakfast each morning.
Open from June 1 to September 30, the summer residence is based in the university campus area in Moncloa District. It is close to the metro station, various bus services, and a shopping area with bars and restaurants. By metro, it is 15 minutes away from the city center and 26 minutes away from the airport.
There are well-maintained facilities including a dining room, cinema and concert room, large outdoor swimming pool opening from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a fully-equipped gymnasium opening from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., basketball and handball courts, as well as a common room for internet access and leisure.
All single rooms have a bathroom and include Wi-Fi, security safe or strong box, work table, fully furnished bathroom, wardrobe, and bed. The reception is open 24 hours a day.
During this holiday, you will enjoy four gourmet activities, 20 Spanish lessons/week – 4 lessons/day, 2 lessons/week Spanish and conversation from A2 level, cultural activities, and many other services.
The Spanish classes are given in small groups of maximum of 10 to 12 people in large, bright, air-conditioned, and pleasant classrooms where students will work in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Classes usually consist of four 45-minute lessons per day from Monday to Friday. The classes in all courses are entirely in Spanish and are divided into several different segments. The aim of all teachers working is to enable their students to communicate effectively in Spanish.
All teachers are university graduates with many years of teaching experience and are deeply involved in the educational project of Tandem Madrid, meaning that they are highly motivated and student-oriented.
The Tandem cultural program is specially designed for foreign students taking a Spanish course at Tandem Madrid. The program combines culture and leisure, enabling students to truly experience Madrid, an open city with a vibrant culture and leisure offering, avant-garde and modern, so they can enjoy the city as if they were citizens, not mere tourists.
Coffee and News (Café y Noticias) is an hour and a half extra class which is included in all Spanish language programs. During this program, students find out about and debate sports, politics, social, and cultural issues in Spain and Latin America.
They do this using a variety of media resources and social networks, guided by highly experienced teachers. In order to participate, students must have a minimum level of A2. Usually, every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., students can participate in Coffee and News.
Teachers have a coffee or tea with the students while debating current affairs and other fun subjects. Tandem also likes to visit Spanish media outlets and arrange meetings with journalists and popular bloggers. Subjects such as football, social movements, celebrity culture, Spanish and Latin American politics are all part of this class.
Coffee and News is a fun way to learn or improve your level of Spanish and a comfortable and easy way to find a steady conversation group and make sure you practice Spanish weekly. It is also an efficient way to prepare for an oral Spanish test or gain confidence in your daily use.
During the low season (January to April), only the morning timetable will apply. During the high season (May to September), there will be rotating schedules every week. One week, classes will be in the morning and the following week they will be in the afternoon.

With respect to your meal plan, you can choose between breakfast, half-board (breakfast and dinner), or full-board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Your meals will be served during the normal Spanish dining hours and you will eat Spanish food.
However, to the extent possible, your host family will take your preferences into consideration. Further, if necessary, there are families that can adapt to certain dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, food allergies, or food restrictions related to your religion. Special diet requirements in families cost extra 26 EUR per week.
