Get ready for an unforgettable night, riders. Tomorrow, you ride deeper into Ladakh!
Start your day with a hearty breakfast, riders! Today's journey takes you to one of the most significant and scenic regions of Ladakh. Saddle up as we ride out towards Batalik, a town known for its brave history during the 1999 Indo-Pak war. Before reaching Batalik, we'll conquer Hambuting La Pass, offering jaw-dropping views of the surrounding valleys. This lesser-known pass, though remote, is one of Ladakh's hidden gems—a perfect spot for a quick photo op!
Next, you ride toward the Aryan Villages, home to the ancient Brokpa Community, believed to be descendants of Alexander the Great's army. This is a rare opportunity to meet the people of Dah and Hanu—the only two Aryan villages open to visitors. The lush greenery and vibrant apricot orchards in this region will leave you spellbound. Make sure to grab some farm-fresh apricots or a jar of locally-made apricot jam as a souvenir of your time here.
As the sun sets, you gather around a bonfire, sharing stories and warming up after a day of epic riding. The evening is dedicated to soaking in the rich culture of the Brokpas. You can try on their traditional dress, taste their local liquor Chhang, and immerse yourself in their unique way of life—a perfect way to end another incredible day on the road. Get some rest, riders, because the adventure is far from over!
Rise and shine, riders! After a refreshing night in the Aryan Valley, it's time to hop back on the saddle and hit the road. Today's route promises excitement and contrast—starting with narrow, mountain-hugging roads that challenge your riding skills, then gradually turning into smooth, fast stretches where you can let your machine roar!
The ride will take you past some of Ladakh's iconic highlights. First, is the stunning Zanskar–Indus Confluence, where two mighty rivers merge in a beautiful blend of colors, creating a breathtaking view. Next we'll cruise by the famous Magnetic Hill, where your motorcycle seems to defy gravity! It's an optical illusion, but it never fails to amaze riders who stop to test it..
Once you arrive in the vibrant town of Leh, the evening is yours to explore. Feel free to take your bike for a spin around town—check out the local markets, visit a café, or simply soak in the laid-back atmosphere of this highaltitude city. After days of remote landscapes, you'll appreciate the lively energy of Leh.
You'll regroup at the hotel in the evening for a well-deserved rest after another thrilling day on the road. Get ready for more adventures tomorrow! Overnight at a Leh Hotel.
After days of conquering rugged terrains and high mountain passes, it's time for both you and your bike to take a breather. The thin air in Leh means one thing: "I can finally feel the oxygen!" Your motorcycle needs a thorough check-up after the punishing journey, so leave it at the hotel for some much-needed maintenance. Today, the city is yours to explore, and there's no better time to wander as a free spirit.
Hop into the car the Dream Riders Group has arranged for you, and set off to explore some of Leh's iconic spots. Your first stop will be the beautiful Thiksey Monastery, followed by a visit to Shey Palace and a serene stop at Sindhu Ghat. After taking in these incredible sights, the car will drop you off at Leh Market by lunchtime.
From there, you're free to explore the local Ladakhi cuisine at one of the many eateries and lose yourself in the charm of the bustling market. Stroll through the vibrant streets at your own pace and head back to the hotel whenever you're ready for some rest.
End the day soaking in the calm before we embark on more adventures tomorrow. Overnight at a Leh Hotel.
Gear up for one of the most thrilling rides of your journey! Today, you ascend to Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world at a staggering altitude of 5359 m. The ride might be short at just 40 km, but the climb is intense. You'll feel the power drop in your engine and the thinning air as you climb 1859 m. Breathe in the crisp mountain air and take in the breathtaking views as the green valley gives way to rugged, towering peaks.
At the summit, with 50% of the oxygen but 100% of the exhilaration, you'll take a well-deserved break for photos next to the famous Khardung La signboard. It's not just a ride; it's an achievement every rider dreams of.
Once the celebratory moment passes, you begin your descent into Nubra Valley. The landscape changes dramatically as you follow the Shyok River, passing Khardung village on the way. Your next stop is the magnificent Diskit Monastery, where you'll stand at the feet of the 108 ft Maitreya Buddha statue, taking in the panoramic views of the valley.
A short ride later, you reach the magical sand dunes of Nubra Valley. Here, you'll have the chance to witness the rare double-humped Bactrian camels, found only in high-altitude deserts like this. The open landscape of Nubra, with its unique mix of sand and snow-capped peaks, will leave you spellbound. After an adventurous day, we settle in for the night in the heart of Nubra Valley.
Get ready, because today's ride is not for the faint-hearted. You begin your journey following the course of the Shyok River, whose name translates to "The River of Death" in the local language—a hint of the adventure that lies ahead.
After a short ride, you hit the narrow mountain road, snaking along rocky cliffs and into the wild heart of Ladakh. The offroading begins once you leave the main Leh road behind. The track starts easy with small patches of broken roads but quickly turns more demanding. You'll ride through long stretches of fine white sand and unpaved tracks littered with loose stones and rubble. As you pass Agham village, the challenge really kicks in.
Streams of glacial water cross your path, turning the ride into an unpredictable mix of mud and water crossings. It's like the Himalayan gods decided to test our physical and mental endurance today.
This is the day where you'll feel every bump and every turn, but it's also the day that will reward you the most. The epic final stretch, through what feels like a Martian landscape, leads you straight to the shores of the holy Pangong Lake. The crystal-clear blue waters stretch as far as the eye can see, flanked by towering peaks—a sight that will take your breath away.
Take a stroll by the lake's shore, snap some photos, and let the serenity of Pangong wash over you. But don't linger too long; the biting cold wind sets in quickly. Make sure to reach the semi-deluxe tents or cottages before sunset. The night may be cold, but you'll warm up fast with the adventure stories shared at the dinner table by fellow riders. Pangong Lake, with its brackish waters and stunning beauty, is worth every grueling mile of the ride.
Get ready for one of the most thrilling and isolated routes of the entire journey! Start your day with a hearty breakfast because the ride today will take you far from civilization—no coffee shops, no distractions, just you and the wild Changthang Plateau.
First, you'll hug the pristine coastline of Pangong Lake as you ride towards the Chinese border. Along the way, you'll pass through remote villages before reaching the last stretch of Pangong within Indian territory. But this is where the adventure truly begins!
Once you hit Chusul, the road will disappear into dirt trails, and the ride turns into an off-roader's dream. You'll feel the thrill of riding over stones and loose soil, with Rezang La's historical echoes adding to the atmosphere. Be prepared to navigate through multiple tire tracks that crisscross the dust—just follow your guide closely, or you might find yourself lost in a maze of sandy trails. Watch out for the hidden Tsaga La pass, which you'll cross without even realizing, thanks to the breathtaking surroundings.
Before long, you'll find yourself stuck (and loving it) in sand piles around Loma, and the journey continues as you cross the mighty Indus River. Brace yourself for one of the most scenic single-lane rides to Hanle—a mesmerizing path that feels otherworldly. By evening, you'll reach the remote village of Hanle, where the serenity is unmatched. Spend the night in this peaceful oasis, reflecting on an epic day of adventure. Overnight stay in Hanle.
Today's ride is the ultimate badge of honor—conquering the highest motorable road in the world: Umling La! The sense of adventure is undeniable as you navigate one of the most remote and rugged landscapes on Earth.
There are multiple routes leading to Umling La, but you'll take the one in the best condition or whichever is open. All of them pass through the famed Chisumle Bridge, a spot known for sightings of rare wildlife such as the Himalayan Marmot, Kiang (wild Tibetan donkeys), Blue Sheep, and the majestic Black-necked Crane. Keep your eyes peeled—this route feels like nature's secret playground.
You'll be taking the scenic yet challenging route via Nurbu La. After leaving Hanle, the landscape opens up into a vast, no-man's valley with dirt trails scattered everywhere. Here, it's easy to lose your way if you're not closely following your road captain—choose the wrong trail and you might find yourself stuck in deep sand!
The initial part of the ride is smooth, but the real challenge begins as you start the steep climb up Nurbu La. This unpaved road, with its sharp incline and fine sand, is sure to test your skills and endurance—this is what adventure riding is all about.
Upon reaching the top of Nurbu La, the reward is a beautifully paved road that leads you toward Umling La. From here, you ride along the Kingdul River, steadily climbing higher along the winding Chismule-Demchok road. Unlike other high mountain passes, you won't see deep valleys here, but instead, a dramatic landscape that feels like another planet.
As you reach the Umlingla, your motorbike will feel the altitude as much as you do—but nothing compares to the pride of taking a photo at the top of the world. Once you've soaked in the moment (and maybe enjoyed a warm cup of tea at the legendary Oxygen Café), you'll begin your descent, heading back to Hanle for the night. This ride is a story you'll tell for years to come!
Special note: Access to Umling La is subject to permits. For foreign riders, if permits are denied, you'll make the most of the day by exploring Hanle town and its nearby gems.
Prepare yourself for an epic day of riding. You'll start the day retracing the route from Hanle to Loma Bridge. From Loma to Mahe Bridge, enjoy the smooth two-lane roads—perfect for cruising and giving you a chance to relax a bit.
But the real fun begins after Mahe. You'll take the lesser-known inner route through the mesmerizing Puga Valley. With its vivid colors, bubbling hot springs, and geothermal activity, this valley feels like a scene from another planet! Next, you'll continue toward the serene Tso Kar Lake, often called the “White Lake” due to its salty shores. The vast, desolate beauty of the lake, with towering mountains in the background, will leave you speechless. From there, the ride gets even more thrilling as we hit the expansive Morey Plains, a high-altitude plateau that's perfect for those who love to open up the throttle and feel the rush of the wind.
Finally, after this rollercoaster of terrain, you'll reach Pang—a small, remote stop on the famous Leh-Manali Highway. Embrace the rustic charm of the Banjaara-style transit camp with simple, shared dormitory beds. It's far from luxury, but after today's ride, even a cramped bed will feel like heaven. You might even end up cooking dinner over an open flame, hands trembling from the cold, and swapping stories with fellow riders under the stars. If you're lucky, someone will break into song, and soon enough, you'll all be dancing around the fire like true adventurers!
Overnight at Pang, where camaraderie and accomplishment will keep you warm. Tomorrow brings more adventures!
As you gear up for the last day of this adventure, the excitement is bittersweet. Make sure your luggage is securely packed, and your fuel tank is topped off—this is the final leg of the journey, and it's going to be a wild one. From the cold, barren landscape of Pang, you'll descend into the winding roads of Nakee La, Lachung La and Baralacha La—three of the most challenging high-altitude passes.
The thrill of crossing freezing water streams and navigating rocky, unpaved roads will test both your riding skills and endurance. Keep your high-altitude meds and energy snacks handy, as this stretch isn't for the fainthearted!
Soon, the rugged landscape will give way to lush green meadows as you descend into Keylong. Watch the scenery transform before your eyes as the towering snow-capped peaks fade behind, and you approach civilization.
By the time you reach Manali, you'll have experienced the rollercoaster ride of a lifetime—every twist, turn, and obstacle shaping the memory of this incredible adventure. At the end of the road, you'll gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate the bonds you've formed, the challenges you've overcome, and the breathtaking beauty you've witnessed.
It's been an adventure for the ages, filled with thrills, laughs, and unforgettable moments. Rest up, celebrate, and bid goodbye to the Himalayas with a heart full of stories to tell.
The time has come to bid farewell to the majestic mountains and the unforgettable adventures you've shared. As you pack up your gear and take in the final views of the beautiful town of Manali, a wave of nostalgia sweeps over you, mixed with the satisfaction of having conquered new horizons and forged lasting memories together.
As you part ways, riders will begin their onward journey home. You can book your overnight Volvo coach or private cab for the trip back to Delhi or Chandigarh—wherever the road takes you next.
This isn't just the end of one journey; it's the start of many more adventures to come. Until we ride together again, keep that spirit of exploration alive and the thrill of the road close to your heart.
