This recently renovated, historic Kennebunk Inn has welcomed travelers from all over the world for more than 75 years. The innkeeper, Elizabeth Arruda, strives to provide a comfortable and relaxed experience for her guests by offering modern amenities, divine breakfasts (including home-grown herbs), and a location filled with many attractions to explore.
The Inn is located in a mid-1800’s Greek Revival home and offers a unique combination of modern furniture and fixtures paired with impeccably maintained original moldings and wide plank floors. Guests enjoy use of common areas in two stylishly decorated common rooms, a dining room, and a lovely outdoor patio for guests’ enjoyment.
The Inn at English Meadows is perfect for vacationing to Kennebunk / Kennebunkport, romantic getaways, and celebrations. All guestrooms feature a Vera Wang hypoallergenic mattress, down duvets and pillows, flat screen TV, iPod docking station, wine glasses with opener, and hairdryer.
Luxurious Frette fine linens, cozy bathrobes, and fluffy towels await you. Some rooms feature the warmth of a gas fireplace or whirlpool tub. All guest rooms come equipped with air conditioners for the summer months. For your convenience, guest refrigerators are located on the each floor of the Carriage House.
The Beach Walk room is tucked away in the rear of the second floor of the carriage house, it is very cozy and quiet. This room feels like a warm lazy afternoon at the beach, done in mint green. It is an ideal place to catch a mid-day nap after a long day strolling the beautiful Maine beaches. Indulge in the luxurious Frette fine linens, queen size bed, flat screen TV, and enjoy the comfort of your own private bathroom.
This room is located on the second floor of the main house and occupies the five windows “turret.” Originally the master bedroom of the English family in the 1860’s, it is one of the most popular rooms. Finished in warm tans and quiet blues, it is a wonderful place to have a morning coffee and read the paper. Additionally, the Sunrise room has interesting architectural details including an arched doorway, a serpentine wall, and six double hung windows. This room features a flat-screen TV and queen size bed. The private bathroom includes a heated tile floor, full tub, and shower.
This is a large bright room located on the second floor of the main house. The room features a gas fireplace, flat screen TV, and queen size bed. The private bathroom has a two-person shower and a double vanity. Done in calm green and cream colors, it offers a quiet sanctuary for a restful stay.
The Carriage House Suite is the most unique room in the Inn. It occupies the whole third floor of the Carriage House (450 square feet). You will find interesting architectural details such as exposed original barn beams, and angled ceiling lines. Enjoy the privacy of an additional outside entrance, come and go as you please. This Carriage House Suite has a comfortable queen bed. Other amenities include a flat screen TV, gas fireplace for those colder months, Nespresso coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and private bath. Many guests enjoy an extended stay in this very special suite.
Sea Glass is a newly-created queen room located on the second floor of the main house. It includes a private bath with a soaking tub / shower, heated floor, and heated towel bar. The room is finished in grey and rose tones.
This cheerful bright room located on the first floor of the carriage house faces the rear of the property, overlooking heritage lilacs and the meadow. Done in warm reds and creamy yellows, this room has a spacious feeling with south west exposure. Goose Rocks features a queen bed, flat screen TV, and a private bath.
The Bungalow is a secluded rental situated in a very special place on the back of the inn property surrounded by shady woods and the sunny meadow. It's perfect for people traveling in a group of two couples, a family, or those traveling with pets. The bungalow has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with twin beds. The utility kitchen allows flexible dining options.
One of the most popular features is the furnished, fully screened in porch. This is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy afternoon or evening in the spring, summer, and fall months. The bungalow also has a flat screen TV, fireplace, and private bath. With advanced notice, the bungalow can accommodate a small pet with an additional fee per night.
Serenity is one of the most popular and very private rooms. The bedroom has a king bed, fireplace, and the bathroom has a double sink vanity and an oversized shower. This room is located on the second floor of the main house and has a private entrance.

The Tack Room, located at the rear of the first floor of the carriage, has a very interesting history. It once served the purpose of being the storeroom for saddles and harnesses from the farm’s carriages and horses years ago. Of course, over the years it has undergone several modifications, the latest remodel brings it up to date with modern amenities and cozy fine linens. This room defines the meaning of rest and relaxation.
Three walls of windows reveal lush trees surrounding the room, giving a since of privacy while welcoming natural light to pour in. On those colder days, you can warm up by the gas fireplace. Enjoy the newly renovated bathroom which features a large shower with three body sprays. Get a wonderful night rest on the king bed. The room also featured a flat-screen TV and adjacent sitting area. Done in calm grays and bright natural greens, this is a truly unique and relaxing space.
This suite is located on the first floor of the carriage house, it has one bedroom separate from the sitting area. In the spring, you can view rows and rows of heritage lilacs and beautiful perennial gardens from the comfort of your bed. The quiet sitting room done in ebony and tans has a flat screen TV, plenty of seating, and contemporary furniture. This is a great place to visit with traveling friends or catch up on a favorite book. The bedroom features a king size bed done in navy and cream colors. The completely new private bathroom features a custom shower and rainmaker shower head.
This very chic new suite is located on the second floor of the Carriage House. The Tranquility Suite offers plenty of space, featuring its own sitting room with contemporary decor and beautiful modern furniture. On those cold days, warm up by the wall mounted gas fireplace and enjoy your favorite book. This suite offers lots of privacy with plenty of seating, a flat screen TV, private bath and king bed. Done in cool shades of grey and warm tans, you could spend all day in this tranquil space.
You'll be welcomed to the inn on the afternoon of your arrival with freshly baked cookies and greeted by your innkeeper or her assistant, who will show you around the Inn and to your room, provide information about the area, provide recommendations for dinner and activities and answer any questions you may have.
On your second day, after a wonderful breakfast in one of the Inn's dining rooms (or outdoors on its lovely brick patio during the warmer months) and a day to yourself to explore the area, you will experience a 3-4 hours private hands-on cooking class in the Inn's kitchen with a local chef. A bottle of wine and artisanal cheese board will be provided for you to enjoy during your class.
After preparing your meal with the chef, you'll have our dining room to yourself to enjoy your delicious meal, which is typically the chef's specialty featuring Maine lobster. Each morning of your stay you'll be served a gourmet multiple course freshly prepared breakfast.
