If you have never traveled before with a motorbike, just give Tony Bike Centre one chance to serve you. Held in the many stunning places of India, this Leh Ladakh expedition is a true pleasure for any traveler. This tour will generally cover Delhi, Manali, Leh, and Srinagar. Guided by a professional tour leader, you will make this tour to be a memorable experience of your life. Please note that this is not a joy, family, or luxury ride, it’s a really tough challenging tour so be ready to face it with a positive mindset. Start the ride and join the fun!
You will stay on double / triple sharing bases (as per the package) in standard hotels / tents / camps and guest houses with neat and tidy rooms and western wash rooms. All tent accommodation will be in Swiss camps with attached western washrooms. Accommodation starts from the night stay on day 1 at Chandigarh until the night stay on day 12 in Chandigarh. If the group number is odd then 1 room will be triple sharing (not for girls or couples). Check-in time for hotels is 12 noon, so in case of early check-in, rooms will be available if they are not occupied. Leh season is a short and heavy season so accommodation can be divided in nearby hotels too.
It is recommended that riders come on day 0 (one day before the tour starts) for bike test rides. It will be from 11:30 a.m. until 04:30 p.m. Afterward, there will be an orientation meeting at 6 p.m. The riders are introduced to each other and are open to ask any of the queries to the tour leader. Do’s and don’ts are not to be missed by anyone as the tour which you have chosen is not a visit to a hill station. It’s Leh and it’s different. Overnight stay at a hotel in Delhi at your own expense.
The mechanic will give a brief introduction about the Royal Enfield bike followed by a brief orientation given by the tour leader for those who were not there on the previous day. The tour takes off to Chandigarh crossing the beautiful fields on either side of the highway. Breakfast halt will be on a roadside dhaba (local restaurant) and that will be the first feel of the countryside. The evening is free so if, one wishes can explore the Stone Garden or can have a nice long rest to start fresh, early next morning.
The ride will start towards Pathankot, which is an Army Cantonment area and a busy city. The highway to Pathankot is a smooth one with open fields, small villages, small cities, and rural markets on its side. It has many army stores in its busy markets from where one can buy stylish army hats, T-shirts, etc.
The ride will start early in the morning for Srinagar, known as paradise on Earth. Today the uphill ride will start. You will cross 2 tunnels and if, lucky enough then after the Shyama Prasad Mukherji tunnel, you will try to take some ‘Prasad’ from the langar pandals set up for the pilgrims of Amarnath. You will be moving on NH – 1 & NH 44. Once you reach Srinagar then the beauty of Dal Lake, surrounded by mountains and the luxury of your houseboat will make you relaxed after the long day ride.
The ride will proceed towards Sonmarg, after which you will cross the 1st mountain pass of the journey, it’s the narrowest Zozila Pass, altitude of 11,953 ft. To cross this pass, patience and concentration are required or you can say that you will have to apply all your riding experience here. You will have a short halt for the photos. Lunch halt will be at Drass, one of the 2nd coldest inhabitant places in the world. Then you will be visiting the Kargil War Museum made in memory of the brave jawans who gave their lives in the Kargil war of 1999. You will pay homage to them and pay respect to such brave people.
Today you will catch NH 1 to reach Leh. The road is excellent and bikes will glide on them. On the way, you will cross Fotula Pass, 13,470 ft., and Namkila Pass -12,198 ft. You will visit Mulbek Village at Chamba having the 1st-century statue of Lord Buddha of the Khushan Period engraved on a mountain.
You will also visit Lamayuru Monastries and will stop at the Moon Land on the way for memorable pics. You will stop at the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara to have ‘Prasad ‘ of tea and sweets. This Gurudwara is built and maintained by the Indian Army. After this, go straight to the hotel.
Complete rest and bike checkup day. If health-wise one is feeling O.K. then one can visit Shanti Stupa, Thiskey Monastry, Shey Palace, Hall of Fames, and can go to the famous Tibet market. This day is free for relaxing, sleeping, exploring, and shopping. If, you are interested, then for this sightseeing the Tony Bike Centre team can arrange local cabs for you (extra charges). Take a rest for the adventure ride of the next day.
Pangong Lake is the highest natural salt lake in Asia. It’s a real treat for your eyes. Its first look will make you speechless. It’s 160 km long and has a turquoise color. One-third part of the lake is in India and the rest is in China. The color combination of this crystal clear lake with the surrounding mountains will pamper your eyes. You will stay in the hotel/tent accommodation completely depending upon the availability. On the way to Pangong comes the Chang La pass – altitude of 17,658 meters. It’s the second-highest motorable pass in the world.
This is the most lovable road for bikers who are passionate about doing off-road rides. This road from Pangong to Nubra is via Shyok valley and goes along with the Shyok river. This ride is a real dream ride for a biker. On reaching Nubra one can go to the Sam Desert sand dunes, can do a camel ride on Siberian double-humped camels, and can enjoy the cultural evening at the desert organized by the local people of Nubra Valley. It’s a green valley with peach trees all over, a river, snow-covered mountain peaks, and sand dunes with double-humped Siberian camels. Amazing to see all in one single sight.
Starting the ride from Nubra, today you will ride on the highest motorable pass in the world. It’s the most exciting and the most challenging path of the tour. To ride on this road and to reach the pass is the main target of this 13 days long tour. You can take as many photos as you can with the historical board behind you saying ‘YOU ARE AT THE HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD IN THE WORLD.’ Crossing Khardungla, you will proceed toward Leh.
This road is having many passes. The road is both smooth and rough so the riders have to be very cautious. On the way, you will cross Upshi Village and Rumptse Village. You will ride to the world’s third highest motorable pass, the Tanglang La – altitude of 17582 meters. Then comes the Great Gyanchuthang Plains. This plain land with a straight road in the center is approximately 50 kilometers. You will cross Nakeela Pass – 15,547 fr. ,Lachulungla Pass – 16,616 ft.
You'll take a halt at Pang, a tough dry place in Ladakh. If lucky enough, then far away from the main road you can see the nomads of Leh Ladakh with their flocks of sheep, famous for Pashmina Wool.
Manali is the most visited hill station in India. This route will give you a view of the high green mountains, snow-covered peaks, riverside road, and then the pleasant green field of Kelong valley. We will go to Manali via Atal Tunnel and if found on the roadside then will surely taste the flavor of the sweet mountain corn roasted on coal.
Early morning, you start the ride toward Chandigarh. From Manali till Kullu the road runs almost parallel to river Beas. You will see the huge Pando Dam on the way. Relaxed evening walk and dinner at the hotel.
Today’s ride is the concluding ride of the day. You will reach Delhi and will leave for home.
Srinagar is a tense area. If there is any disturbance or if, the tour leader comes to know that anytime anything can go wrong, then even if the situation seems to be normal at that particular time, the group will not take any risk and WILL NOT GO VIA SRINAGAR. In such a case, the tour will reverse the itinerary. Your safety is a priority.
In case you go via Manali, then the itinerary will look like this:
The most important thing is that the team which will be with the group will be the in-house team of Tony Bike Centre. The tour leader, mechanics, helpers, and tour manager (the senior most of TBC) are TBC staff members and are not hired from outside for the tours. They are well experienced and have a full grip of this route. You will be traveling with experts and not with freshers. TBC can’t take any risk to your safety.
The minimum age of the rider for this tour should be 21 years.
The minimum number of bikes required to start a bike tour is 8.
The tour can be canceled if, the bikes are less than 8 in number, per group. If the tour is canceled because of less number of riders then the riders of that group can join the nearest date tour or any other departure from the Leh tours.
If any rider wants to leave the tour in between, then he has to pay the transportation cost from the leaving point until Delhi.
No rider will be allowed to do the ride without proper riding gear. Tony Bike Centre has the authority to cancel the ride of a rider if, he/she is not wearing proper riding gear. No risk can be taken on this world’s toughest roads.
Riders should be clear that what they have chosen is not a joy, family, or luxury ride, it’s a really tough challenging tour so be ready to face it with a positive mindset.
Kindly, go through all the written materials very carefully and clear all your doubts before booking or before the tour starts as once the tour starts we want to move like a family, enjoying and facing all odds and evens with a clear positive attitude and without any doubts.
