Start the Ha Giang motorbike tour – Northeast Vietnam at 8 a.m. from the northeast side of Hanoi. You will try to keep away from the crowd of the local traffic by taking a small, winding road along the Red River. Enjoy great views of river and rice paddies as you ride through country and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. See the daily life of the local during the ride through some peaceful villages. Lunch at a local restaurant in Doan Hung Town.

After lunch you will have a better ride with some easy off-road and better views of nature. Arrive in Vu Linh – a nice village of the Dzao people that is located nearby the Thac Ba Lake – the largest man-made lake with more than 3,000 islands. You will have a boat trip around this beautiful lake and this must be the highlight of this Ha Giang motorbike tour.

Day 2: Vu Linh - Ha Giang (230 km / 143 miles)

Get on the bikes and ride along the Thac Ba Lake on a small road lined by palm trees and scenic mountain views. You will have some interesting off-road ride through some beautiful villages before heading up to Ha Giang, you will be charmed by the pristine beauty of the wild mountains and the authentic culture of the local ethnic groups the Tay, and the Ha Nhi people. The Ha Giang roads are intrinsically difficult due to their winding and rocky terrain, but as you zoom in, you get to gaze on the majesty of the plateau. It is another highlight of Ha Giang motorbike touring.

Day 3: Ha Giang - Dong Van (170 km / 106 miles)

Today is surely the highlight of this trip. You will have one of the best Vietnam motorbike tours today with amazing views of nature. You will ride on small challenging mountain roads with incredibly beautiful land of colourful mountain hill tribes. You stop at Quan Ba to watch the vast pine forests and winding slopes. Ride on a zig-zag track until you reach Vuong Family's Residence, 14 km from Dong Van.

Vuong’s Family was considered the King of the Hmong People in Dong Van, Ha Giang. Their residence was built in the scenic valley of Sa Phin with Chinese architecture. The whole house was built out of wood and rock only. The rocks for the buildings were imported from China. Vuong’s Family Residence is a masterpiece. It is in the valley of the heavenly beauty of Sa Phin. This is a remote area, and you can meet the hard-working local people here. It is inspiring to see how they survive as they manage to live in the rocks. When you reach Dong Van town, you will have some extra time to wander the ancient streets lined with H'mong homes of clay bricks and tiles roofs-built centuries ago.

Day 4: Dong Van - Bao Lac (130 km / 81 miles)

After enjoying breakfast, you ride your motorcycle up the Ma Pi Leng Pass. Here is yet another amazing place, with cloudy mountain ranges and the poetic Nho Que River winding off in the distance.

It is difficult to find the exact words to describe Ma Pi Leng Pass, located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, near the northernmost tip of Vietnam, as a painting of astonishing beauty and magnificence that captures the eyes of all viewers and nature lovers. The landscape is among the most beautiful scenery of Vietnam, and the slow tempo is only more appreciable. You ride your motorcycle across the wild regions of the mythical province of Ha Giang, (Meo Vac) is included. It is inhabited by different ethnic minorities including the H'mong, the King, Tay, and Dzao. Most ethnic groups have maintained their culture untouched by the outside world. Enjoy the Vietnam motorbike tour on some beautiful mountain passes until Meo Vac where you overnight.

Day 5: Bao Lac - Ba Be (160 km / 99 miles)

Today must be the best off-road Vietnam motorbike tour. Just after 20 km from Bao Lac you turn to narrow and bumpy road with breathtaking views of terrace rice paddies. You have to cross a few rivers instead of riding on some bamboo bridges. Then you have a beautiful motor ride down to Bac Kan Province, finishing the memorable riding day with lunch in a peaceful village of the Tay people nearby Ba Be Lake. In the afternoon. Take a local boat-ride on the reservoir of Na Hang Hydro Power Factory to a village near by Dau Dang Waterfall in Ba Be National Park.

Day 6: Ba Be National Park - Hanoi (260 km / 162 miles)

You say farewell to Ba Ba Lake with stunning vistas of lakes, limestone summits, deep evergreen woods, and quiet rivers, avoid the main road for as long as possible you head back towards the Red River Delta, passing through areas inhabited by Hmong, Dao, Tay, and Nung minority peoples. A mixture of both challenging track and glorious sealed road all the way back to Hanoi. One of the best travel decisions was to take a six-day motorcycle tour Northern Vietnam.
