About Blackadon Farm

Blackadon Farm was originally built in the late 1890s and set on the edge of the beautiful and historic village of Moorhaven. They’ve sensitively renovated the cottages to offer luxury with exceptional value. They do their best to protect the environment and create a sustainable future:

  • Energy-efficient LED lighting has been introduced.
  • The new kitchens have been sourced to Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™) standards, promoting timber being obtained from sustainable sources.
  • Electric car chargers are available.
  • Discreetly placed solar panels at the back of the land generate some of the power and the farmhouse also has water tubes to produce hot water.
  • They have their own natural water supply.
  • They’ve introduced hives because most plants they need for food rely on bee pollination. Guests can learn more with the local beekeeper.
  • Whilst some people come to escape technology, they've installed super-fast fiber broadband in every cottage; perfect if you need to catch up on work, stream your favorite program, or let loved ones know where you are.

Blackadon Farm can help you relax or keep an active schedule. Here’s how they can help:

  • The Den

Behind the cottages, Blackadon has a large, heated barn for folks to unwind, chill out on comfy seating, and play games such as table tennis. It’s also perfect for yoga and training sessions.

  • Outdoor spaces

There’s plenty of space on the farm. Enjoy time on the guest lawn overlooking the countryside and down to the coast. Soak up the sun and read a book in the south-facing courtyard. Relax in the private woodland. Take part in one of the special stargazing evenings with Dartmoor Skies.

  • Keeping it clean

You’re on holiday so you might not want to do any chores. However, if you need to do some laundry, they have a self-service washing machine and dryer on site.

  • Movie and literature buffs

They keep a small range of books for your use. You’re welcome to use the little library as a book exchange so you can enjoy what others have been reading. The TVs are smart, so log onto your Netflix account for a chilled night in.

Please note that your hosts prefer participants to stay quietly onsite rather than treat it as a holiday venue only.

Location

Blackadon Farm will help you have a memorable stay in one of the most desirable, yet accessible holiday locations in Devon. Guests staying in The Cottages at Blackadon Farm enjoy the unrivaled peace, tranquillity, and timeless beauty of the wonderful setting on the southern boundary of Dartmoor National Park.

It's also a short distance from some of Devon’s most beautiful beaches and attractions. So, whether you want to walk directly onto the moor, spend time at the beach or soak up some culture, Blackadon offers a wonderful location.

Food

Juice fast detox

Fresh vegetables and fruit juices, detox tea, and pure water, the juice fast detox will give you a unique opportunity to take a break from it all, rest your mind, spirit, and body.

Recent research reveals that up to 90% of the neurotransmitter serotonin is made in the digestive tract. If you are already taking Microbz probiotics you may well be on the way to supporting this; if not, there will be an opportunity to sample Microbz Bio-Live Gold and Dark. Adding juice fasting and digestive rest will supercharge your system with pure nutrition (absorbed within 15 minutes) with minimum effort, allowing a reset on all levels.

To gain the benefits of the juice fast try to book one month prior to the retreat as there is information to support and prepare you. Patricia Campbell-Parker heads up the juicing programs at Vital Health events. She is trained by and supports the Jason Vale Juice Therapy Academy, taking clients through life-transforming programs. Patricia can answer any of your burning questions that have popped up over the past few years; juice or blend? Sugar content? Protein? Best machines?

Juicing schedule

  • 09:00 Ginger shot
  • 09:45 Breakfast juice
  • 13:15 Lunch juice
  • 15:45 Afternoon juice
  • 18:45 Warming broth
  • 21:00 Bedtime herbal teas

Why juice?

Raw vegetable and fruit juicing has been around in one guise or another for many centuries. It has been used by some of the world’s most renowned leaders in nutritional therapy for use in the prevention and treatment of disease. Raw juice therapy uses the unique blend of the properties found within the natural juices of vegetables and fruits to aid the body to optimum health. Freshly extracted juices furnish the body with the perfect balance of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, carbohydrates, antioxidants, and enzymes.

Is juicing for you?

Are you someone who finds it increasingly difficult to get up in the mornings? Always feeling tired and lethargic until that first cup of coffee or tea? Do you need a few more “energy” boosts throughout the day to keep your mind on work? Do you get home too tired to do anything other than sit in front of the television?

Is it right for you?

Quite probably. Natural juice therapy has helped millions of people around the world with a number of conditions. A raw juice dietary advisor will not diagnose or claim to cure, but will simply present the information and scientific research to support the knowledge that freshly extracted juicing can be extremely beneficial in the treatment of almost every common ailment.

Why not just eat vegetables and fruit?

Because for some reason the vast majority of people just don’t! The vast majority of peoples’ digestion system is so sluggish and overburdened with toxicity that they cannot fully extract and utilize all the goodness from the foods they eat. When you extract the fresh juices and drink them, the nutrients are more "bioavailable" to your cells, 95% of all the nutrients are retained in the juice.

Please note that bringing in or ordering food is not advised during the juice fast.

Things to do (optional)

See and do

You’d just like to relax? Sure, go ahead, this is the perfect place for you. Soak in the stunning scenery and spot wildlife from the grounds, unwind with a book in the courtyard or snuggle up on the sofa whilst listening to your favourite music. If you’d like to experience the best of the West Country, Blackadon Farm works with a number of local businesses to provide you with access to a number of activities. They provide guests with more information and special offers before they visit, however, here’s a taster of what’s available:

A walk (or drive) in the park

If you’d like guided walks in Dartmoor National Park, they can arrange these for you; maps and suggested itineraries for walks and drives in and around the National Park’s 365 square miles of beauty.

Life’s a beach

Some of the best beaches in the region are within easy reach by car. Wembury is great for surfing and rock pooling. Bantham and Bigbury-on-Sea have a bit of everything. Mothecombe tends to be quieter and Blackpool Sands is surrounded by lush evergreens and pines. Burgh Island is something special and worth visiting.
