Reconnect with Nature Retreat Sweden

Wild Sweden's plan is simple, you will be together out in the forest, be comfortable and have fun together. You will stay three nights at Shambala Gatherings Yoga retreat and two nights in tents in wolf territory. They hope that you will get to know the wild side if yourself. And to truly feel that you are part of nature. In a comfortable, relaxing, and fun way. There will be a one hour yoga class with meditation each morning led by Christiana while we stay at Shambala. There will also be several hours of free time when you have access to space and mats to practice yoga on your own. During your time in the forest you will also do some forest yoga and natural movement as well as meditation and silent walks. You don’t need any previous experience in yoga.

During your first three nights, you will stay at Shambala Gatherings in Skinnskatteberg, a yoga retreat center where many international yoga teachers hold retreats. It has a great community vibe, where you meet inspiring and positive people from all over the World. The food is wholesome and vegetarian and we often eat out on the sunny deck overlooking the lake. You are likely to meet other yogis and fun people here. See the Shambala Gatherings website for more info about the place.

You can choose between shared twin room or single room. If you come on your own we will pair you up with another guest of the same gender. If there won't be anyone to share with, you still just pay the shared room rate.

Or you can choose to bring your own tent and sleeping equipment and camp in the Shambala garden. You will still have access to the Shambala bathrooms, showers, and relax areas.

On the two last nights, you will venture out into the forest and set up camp by a lake in wolf territory. They will provide all camping equipment during these nights, choose a single or double tent.

There will be shared bathrooms in the corridor at the yoga center and dry toilets at the camp.

Yoga and meditation

In the mornings, Christiana will wake up your body and mind through yoga and meditation.

You don’t need any previous experience in yoga. There will be a one-hour yoga class plus meditation each morning led by Christiana while the group stays at Shambala. You are also welcome to practice yoga on your own whenever there is time. Participants will also do some natural movement in the forest as well as meditation and silent walks in nature.

Campfire vibes

You will venture into the wild forest for hikes, foraging, wild swimming, and outdoor cooking. On one evening, you will go for a boat cruise to a secret island in a lake for a campfire dinner.

You will also learn about berries, mushrooms, trees and plants, from the large pines to the small ants. We taste what is edible and cook delicious meals over open fire.

You will learn how to use a knife and how to create and maintain a fire, skills that our ancestors had naturally at hand to survive.

You will also search for beavers and moose, and meditate in the presence of wild wolves and hopefully even hear them howl in the night.

There will be plenty of campfire evenings. That’s when the magic and connections happen.

Two nights in wolf territory

For two nights, the group will venture out into the forest and set up a tented camp by a lake in wolf territory. The exact location is kept a secret. The organizers from Wild Sweden will explain why.

What will you do during this retreat?

In the morning, you will wake up your bodies and minds through yoga and free-flowing movement. This will prepare us physically and mentally for an active day in nature. During the evenings, you will escape into the forest. You will go for hikes, swim in rivers and one evening you will take a boat to reach a secret island in a lake.

You will have the chance to learn about berries, mushrooms, trees, and plants, from the large and ancient to the tiny sprout. You taste what is edible and in the evenings you cook delicious meals on a campfire.

You will learn some of the skills that our ancestors had naturally at hand to survive, such as making fires and using knives. Also how to get cozy and comfortable on the ground, being fully present and alive among trees and wild animals.

You will search for beavers, and meditate in the presence of wild wolves and hopefully even hear them howl in the night. You will spend your evenings in areas where wild animals roam free.

Catch up with yourself

This is a slow retreat. You will move slowly and take time to reflect and feel. And try to stay away from technology, the internet, and social media. At the end of the retreat days, you will relax in a wood-heated sauna, and then cool down with a dip in the lake, and hopefully fall asleep feeling a bit lighter and wilder.

There will be plenty of time to just relax in hammocks. You will actually have a hammock for yourself wherever we go during this retreat.

What you will get out of this experience?

  • Strengthen your connection to nature and feel that nature is your true home
  • Disconnect yourself from stress and the modern lifestyle
  • Get inspired on how to make your everyday life a bit wilder
  • Become inspired and confident to spend more time in nature on your own

What is the benefit of rewilding oneself?

Just because humans can adapt to any environment and demand - such as a stressful life in the city - it does not mean that it is sustainable and healthy to do so. Instead of numbing yourself to be able to cope with the harshness of mainstream everyday life, allow yourself to be fresh, awake, alert, wild and free.

People naturally become happier and more energized when in nature. It is an empowering and liberating experience.

With this retreat, Wild Sweden wants to reawaken the sense of curiosity and wonder about all expressions of life, to sharpen your observation skills towards nature and your own body, and feel how totally you belong in the natural world.

To be wild as they understand it, means to be genuine and unfiltered in your experience and reactions. To forget about what is expected of you in order to fit in contemporary city life, and to simply enjoy and connect to nature and to all living beings.

Humans used to be part of nature’s processes, and understand their cycles and power. Even though now people have been estranged from their natural environment, they can still regain much of their beautiful intuition and inner guidance.

They just need to spend time with the purest version of themselves, in the purest environment, in order to trust it again. This way, they will feel a vibrant connection to everything there is, and life will have a solid purpose.
