Location

Your home away from home this week will be Ebbio Estate in the heart of Tuscany. Ebbio is a restored 13th century farm beautifully transformed in a tranquil healing oasis. Nestled inside an evergreen forest, it sits on an extinct volcano that was sacred to the Etruscans, and overlooks the medieval walled town of Monteriggioni.

Ebbio’s family includes Sibilla, Francesca, Dimitri, Nushi, Bardi, Annamaria, the beloved woofers, as well as geese, chickens, horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, and plenty of butterflies. The country ways of old Italy are preserved at Ebbio and their team is dedicated to the organic cultivation of olive trees, vineyards, fruit, vegetables, and herbs, which they then use in preparing home-made vegetarian meals. The unique décor of the ten bedrooms builds on this traditional heritage, with earthly colors and windows onto the rolling Tuscan hills.

Food

You will be nourished from the inside out. Ebbio believes that food is the ultimate source of health and happiness. They pride themselves on their use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, primarily the produce they grow on their own site, which is certified organic. Over twenty years of travel and living by the mantra that ‘food is medicine’, the meals are a highlight for the guests: always rich in nutrients, organic and vegetarian, the menu varies to complement what’s in season in the fields. Mediterranean flavours meet new creations in the healthy, vibrant cooking.

Wildly Well Retreats recommends Florence, however, all surrounding airports are connected via the Italian railway system. Siena and Castellina in Chianti are the closest train stations to Ebbio.
