Programme

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

The first day, you will stay in Krk at the Marina Hotel, where you gather, get to know each other and where you will leave from the next day. You will agree on the itinerary. After that, you will have a guided tour of the city, free time and dinner in one of the many local restaurants.

Day 2: Krk - Arabba (350 kilometers / 217 miles; 7:30 hours)

As usual, a beautiful and sunny day dawned, coffee, agreement and you leave around 10:00 am. You drive over Pasjak, on the highway to Udine, exit at Tolmezzo, and go to the first Passo Mauria at 1,295 meters.

This route, through small towns and forests, is interesting, with good roads and full of fun. It has a nice number of "hairpins" on the Michelozzo side and then a long winding, winding road down into the valley.

Next you go to Passo Tre Crocci 1,814 meters. Passo Tre Croci is low and simple. There are only a few small hairpins and snakes, not zig-zag turns. The road from Misurino is very good, but there are some often difficult to see bumps due to subsidence. The road is not very steep and with little traffic. There are very beautiful scenery, especially around Misurino, the lake and the top of Tre Cima (three chimneys).

After a short break and taking pictures, you continue towards Cortina d Ampezzo, where you stop for coffee and a short walk. You continue further, to Passo Giau 2,236 meters. Passo di Giau opens with a road through the "Sound of Music" type of meadow, surrounded by panoramic mountain scenes.

Some say this is the favorite in the Dolomites. The northern road, where you come, is a little bumpy and shorter, but the southern one, where you continue, is mostly good, all the way to the destination in Arabba.

After a whole day of driving, you only covered 350 kilometers. Now begins the rest and a little walk around the city.

Day 3: Arabba - Val Gardena - Arabba (120 kilometers / 75 miles; 3:30 hours)

So, the first beautiful day is dawning, as if born to ride on alpine passes. After breakfast, you leave for Passo Vasparola 2,192 meters. The top is dark and bare, with rocks and ski slopes, but the road descends very quickly into a dense forest. The road has been repaired and is now quite pleasant to drive on.

You continue to Corvara, from where you go over Passo Campolongo 1,875 meters to Arraba. It's easy to get through and ideal for warming up for the rest of the area. The first part of this pass above Corvara has several hairpins, which are wide and with good visibility.

You descend to Arabba from the north, where you can rest a bit. You go over the pass Passo Pordoi at 2,239 meters. Passo di Pordoi is part of the "Grande Dolomiti Drive", which stretches from Bolzano to Cortina. It is very beautiful and the road is mostly in very good condition. The 33 hairpins at the east exit are super, unfortunately there are a lot of buses and cars.

After resting and taking pictures at the top, you take the gondola up to Sas Pordoi. The 2,950 meters high Mt. Sass Pordoi, a panoramic peak, is reached by cable car from the Passo Pordoi mountain pass, where you leave your motorbikes in the parking lot.

You continue downhill, and again climb to Passo Sella 2,240 meters. From the top of the Gardena Pass, the road descends with several hairpin turns, although a beautiful landscape opens up to you, you are almost constantly looking at one of those Dolomite monoliths.

The west side does not have the best asphalt. The top is very narrow and with parking restrictions, even for motorbikes. It can be tricky and you have to be careful, especially the cars that are looking for the panorama of the landscape and the parking lot, not the road.

As resourceful as they are, they find parking for everyone, take a picture and continue along the road towards Val Gardena. You rest there, have a drink for young men, and take a walk. After a rest, you move on.

You are going to Passo Grodnerjoch at 2,121 meters. The road to Passo di Gardena from Gardena is one of the favorites. It's just mega - a series of open and exposed hairpins, with short flats through alpine meadows. From Gardena, this is one of the best classic Dolomites landscape. The west side flows under a huge stone wall and it's beautiful.

After taking pictures, you continue towards Corvara, over Passo Campolongo 1,875 meters to Arraba. In total, you covered about 120 kilometers, which is a pleasure, since you drive a little at a time all day. You go to Arabba for drinks and dinner.

Day 4: Arabba - Canazei - Arabba (80 kilometers / 50 miles; 2:00 hours)

Today, again after breakfast, you get on the motorbikes around 10:00 am. In beautiful sunny weather, you go on one of the shortest tours, about 80 kilometers.

You are heading towards Marmolada. You continue on, through the beautiful valley from Rocca Pietora, to Passo Fedaia at 2,057 meters. There, you pass from the north side under the great Marmolade mountain. Because of the ski resort, the road is mostly good.

Towards Canazei, the road is quite fast, with only about 5 open hairpins that take you down from the top of Fedaia. At the top on the left is the Marmolada group, which contains the highest mountain in the Dolomites, and one of the many museums deals with the theme of the First World War, the conflict between Italy and Austria.

After taking pictures and resting, you continue towards Canazei. There, you can rest a bit, have a few drinks and take a walk around the village. After resting, you continue to your home in Arabba. Today, you had a very short tour of about 80 kilometers and only 2 hours of driving. You will have a vacation with food and oenology.

Day 5: Arabba - Tolbach - Cortina d Ampezzo - Arabba (160 kilometers / 99 miles; 4:00 hours)

A beautiful day calls you to new adventures. Breakfast was great, and around 10:00, you set off again for a short drive. So, through the Campolongo and Corvara passes, you continue north towards Zwischenwasser (Longega), St. Vigil (Bozen) and over the Furkelpass, which is at 1,759 meters.

The road is quite narrow and winding, but there is very little traffic, the asphalt is good and there is generally good visibility on the bends. A very nice drive through the forests and low mountains of the Dolomites. You can stop there for a while, rest and continue on towards Bozen, to Toblach.

In Villabassa (Niederdorf), you stop and take a little longer break. You go to the Adler Hotel for a Prosecco. After refreshment, you head to Tolbach (Dobbiaco), where, through beautiful landscapes, you climb towards Passo Cimabanche at 1,529 meters. From the pass, you descend towards Cortina a Ampezzo, where you can take a short break again and walk along their course. You continue towards Passo Falzarego, which is at 2,105 meters.

The road East of Arabbo is a continuation of the "Great Dolomites Drive" where it is another good route with an excellent road and a combination of hairpins, medium speed turns. There is no real slope, but the eastern side is steeper, while on the western side, you have 17 hairpins. The natural beauties are wonderful, typical of the Dolomites.

After taking pictures on the Falzarego pass, you head home via Livinallongo. You arrive in Arabba after 160 kilometers and 4 hours of driving. As standard, a shower, rest and dinner await you.

Day 6: Arabba - Valdobbiadene (180 kilometers / 112 miles; 4:00 hours)

A beautiful morning dawns again. Breakfast - done. You are going on a tour around Marmolada, but this time from its southern side. At 10:00 a.m., you head west over Passo Pordoijoch 2,239 meters towards Cannazei, to Moena and Marmolado - Passo San Pellegrino at 1,918 meters. You stop there, take some pictures and continue towards Falcada and Agordo. The road is mostly good, a bit narrower and leads through the forest.

Along the way, you stop as desired, follow the road to Trento and Bassano del Grappa, where you stop in the center to look around the town and the wooden bridge. You continue to Valdobbiadene where you sleep.

After showering, you go to the agritourism tavern and start tasting wine (prosecco) and their delicacies.

Day 7: Valdobbiadene - Krk (300 kilometers / 186 miles; 4:00 hours)

Last day. The return begins. You get up again around 10:00 a.m. and a beautiful sunny day. No clouds anywhere. You are leaving Valdobbiadena for Conegliano, so on the highway to Trieste. After the border, you stop in Burja for lunch, to compare your impressions. You will be home around 18:00. Again, you will sleep in a hotel in Krk.

Day 8

Departure day, the day to return. You go directly home, without any special goals, with the aim of avoiding highways - only locally, to see as much as possible. Admittedly, this tour is much slower, but more beautiful and interesting.

Thanks for hanging out...

Great company, you saw a lot, and passed 15 passes in 6 days, some more than once. You covered a total of 1,190 kilometers, which is an average of about 200 kilometers per day. The tours were relatively short and this is a "Par exelans" holiday. They look forward to seeing you again.
