Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day's activities will be tailored to your arrival time. If you reach Kathmandu by midday or late afternoon, optional activities can be arranged to enhance your experience and make the most of your time in the city.
Day 2 – Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites
The whole day is dedicated to the tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu. After breakfast, your day begins with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a site known for its cultural and architectural significance as the former royal palace of the Malla kings.
You then make your way to the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, which is one of the oldest and most important sacred Buddhist sites located on a hill in Kathmandu. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. The stupa's name, Swayambhunath, means "self-existent one" in Sanskrit, indicating its ancient origins.
Following lunch, you proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, another significant religious site in Kathmandu, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It is located on the banks of the Bagmati River and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. It is believed that a visit to Pashupatinath and offering prayers here can cleanse one's sins and lead to spiritual liberation.
Your day of sightseeing concludes at the Boudhanath Stupa, which is believed to have been built in the 5th century, making it one of the oldest and holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu Valley. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a prominent symbol of Buddhism in Nepal. The stupa is a massive structure with a dome-shaped base and a towering spire, adorned with the watchful eyes of the Buddha painted on all four sides. These eyes, known as the "Eyes of Buddha" or "Wisdom Eyes," symbolize the all-seeing and compassionate nature of Buddha.
This enriching tour of Kathmandu is sure to leave us with lasting impressions of its spiritual significance and timeless beauty.
Day 3 – Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Start your day in Kathmandu with breakfast at your hotel, preparing for an exciting exploration ahead. Transfer to the airport to board a flight to Pokhara, the city of lakes. Begin the tour by visiting David's Fall, where you'll witness the force of nature as water cascades into a deep rock gorge in the heart of the city. Next, explore the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site filled with intricate carvings and shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva.
You journey continues to the World Peace Pagoda, situated atop a hill, offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna Range and Phewa Lake. Take in the stunning vistas before enjoying a serene boat ride across Phewa Lake to get to the Lakeside. After returning to the lakeside, take time to explore vibrant local markets, immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere, or indulge in authentic Nepali cuisine at a lakeside restaurant. After a short rest, you make your way to the serene hill station of Sarangkot.
As the day comes to an end, retire to your accommodation in Sarangkot, carrying memories of a day immersed in the stunning landscapes and cultural heritage of this enchanting city. From the raw power of nature at David's Fall to the serene spirituality of the World Peace Pagoda and Gupteshwor Mahadev, this day promises an unforgettable experience.
Visit Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, World Peace Pagoda, and Phewa Lake boat ride. Overnight in Sarangkot.
Day 4 – Pokhara wellness activities
Start your day with an invigorating yoga session, designed to stretch and energize your body as you take in the stunning natural beauty of Pokhara. Following this, indulge in a relaxing spa treatment to release any tension and truly unwind. Later on the day, participate in a meditation session, allowing yourself time to focus your thoughts and revitalize your spirit. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may choose to bask in the blissful atmosphere or explore additional wellness activities, like a nature walk or simply relaxing by the lakeside.
Day 5 – Full-day Pokhara sightseeing
A start of a tough day for night owls. You rise early to witness the glorious sunrise from Sarangkot. A scene sure to drop your jaws, something you shouldn’t miss out on. After a hearty breakfast, you make your way down to Bindabasini Temple, which is the oldest temple in Pokhara and is devoted to the goddess Bindhyabasini. From there on our drive continues to Seti Gorge, an impressive natural wonder where the Seti River has carved a deep chasm into the bedrock, creating a milky-white river that flows underneath Pokhara.
Just beside the Seti gorge, there lies the Gurkha Museum, which provides a fascinating insight into the legendary Gurkha soldiers of Nepal. After visiting the museum, you continue your adventure by exploring two of Pokhara’s most famous natural caves. First, you visit Mahendra Cave, a large limestone cave named after King Mahendra. You then move on to the nearby Bat Cave, aptly named due to its population of horseshoe bats. This darker and more adventurous cave is a thrill for nature enthusiasts, with its tight squeezes and the possibility of encountering bats overhead. After the sightseeing, you'll head back to the hotel for some relaxation, utilizing the hotel’s amenities.
Day 6 – Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu and cycling from Kathmandu to Nagarkot
Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be provided with bikes for an exhilarating cycling journey from Kathmandu to Nagarkot.
This 32-kilometer journey typically takes around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make. The route gradually ascends from Kathmandu's elevation of 1,400 meters to Nagarkot's 2,175 meters, providing a moderate challenge suitable for cyclists of varying skill levels.
Along the way, you may encounter local farmers tending to their crops or children playing in village squares, presenting perfect opportunities for cultural interactions and memorable photographs. After reaching Nagarkot, check in to your hotel and unwind, with the evening free to relax and take in the breathtaking sunset views this hill station is known for.
Day 7 – Sunrise view from Nagarkot and Cycle back to Kathmandu
Rise with the sun to witness a breathtaking Himalayan sunrise from Nagarkot, where the first light of day paints the snow-capped peaks in hues of gold and pink. This panoramic vista, stretching across the horizon, offers a view of several notable peaks, including Everest on clear days. After basking in the morning's ethereal glow, fuel up with a hearty breakfast to prepare for your return journey.
As you begin your cycle ride back to Kathmandu, you'll find the route primarily downhill, offering a more relaxed experience compared to your ascent. This 32-kilometer journey typically takes about 3-4 hours, allowing ample time to immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty. The descent provides an excellent opportunity to capture photographs of the picturesque landscapes, local villages, and terraced fields that characterize this region of Nepal.
During your ride, you might encounter locals starting their day – farmers heading to their fields or children making their way to school. These moments offer unique insights into daily life in rural Nepal. Consider making a brief stop at a local tea house to refresh yourself with a cup of traditional Nepali tea, enhancing your cultural experience.
Upon your return to Kathmandu, check into your hotel and take some time to rejuvenate. The evening is yours to spend as you wish. You might choose to explore more of Kathmandu's vibrant streets, perhaps visiting Thamel for some souvenir shopping, or simply unwind at your hotel, reflecting on the day's adventures. If you're feeling indulgent, consider treating yourself to a traditional Nepali massage to soothe any muscle fatigue from your cycling expedition.
Watch the Himalayas light up at dawn. Cycle back downhill through the local countryside.
