"awesome retreat!"

I loved that this retreat was in the countryside, a small village surrounded by rice fields and fully staffed by locals. Everyone was well-trained, excellent at their jobs and welcoming. The itinerary was just right, each day an excursion planned or activity. I chose a coconut oil-making class and a walk in the rice fields at the evening. My last day, the yoga was at the beach, and it was divine!! Even though we did a lot, i didnt feel rushed or hurried. there was time to sit and chat with others after meal or go to room and have some quiet time. All in all a high quality program at a very reasonable price!!

"Best Journey in Bali!"

This place is amazing, I’ve spent two weeks here but could’ve stayed a lot more! The retreat is not touristic at all, you can enjoy the rice fields and the activities without any traffic or noise, this experience gives you full relax and joy, you can enjoy the local activities that are very typical and funny and then chill down in the swimming pool. The people of the retreat are amazing, they will treat you as family and they are very accommodating with any request. The yoga is great and the location very clean, the food even better and you have plenty of choices based on your taste and preference. Would recommend this to anyone, this had been a wonderful journey for me, thank you Balitrees 🙏🏻

"very fulfilling experience"

the staff at Balitrees were simply amazing! Kind, caring, and embodying the Balinese values completely... the activities gave the opportunity to immerse in the culture and experience the region a little more. The food was very filling with local, healthy items, with nourishing ginger lemongrass tea (and coffee, and biscuits that people went nuts over!) available throughout the day. They really did a great job at making one feel welcome and well catered to.

Another instructor Teddy was also very good. Also one lady instructor who likes to pair students to do creative yoga poses, especially at beach yoga was excellent! She and Teddy are the best instructors.

"Piece of heaven and piece of mind I loved it "

First Tabanan is the most charming part of Bali it has unbelievable nature and beach with black sand beyond amazing. The village is so clean and beautiful. Bali tree is the most amazing retreat I have experienced, room was so clean and I got my room alone although I booked it shared, the fun I had with the people was amazing, yoga at the beach I wish to repeat it, the food is good. The management are generous. The massage is the best I ever tried. I will do this experience again at same place. Highly recommended.

Menus VG.

Super massages.

J'en ressors calme, apaisée, heureuse.

Merci

"A very special wellness retreat: mind-body-soul"

I booked this yoga retreat at the last minute to spend more time in nature and slow things down away from the busy parts of the island and to reconnect with self. It was more than I imagined it could be and Balitrees in Sesandan, Tabanan was a magical place nestled in a lush landscape and ecosystem that is breathtaking. The staff were amazing and they take such great care of you and offer an extensive program tailored to your personal needs. Super organized with fun excursions and 2x daily yoga which is fantastic learning from true Balinese yogi masters! My favorite part, which was a lovely surprise, was meeting people from around the world, bonding with them over a short time, and sharing delicious meals and stories together! Also, the village and the community are kind, generous beautiful souls. Thank you Balitrees for your hospitality.

"Entspannung pur"

"Wonderful experience and beautiful setting "

I really enjoyed the yoga retreats experience at Balitrees. The rural setting among the rice terraces was just beautiful. Far better than the pictures show. The Balitrees residents were so warmly welcomed by the villagers it made the stay super special. All our activities were arranged in the village, from making coconut oil to learning Gamalan music. We were also warmly welcomed to the local temple religious ceremony.

The yoga setting was fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable . Some of the yoga tutors could have given more options for those who were working towards the final pose, but overall were excellent. This is a comment rather than a criticism as I really enjoyed the yoga.

The accommodation was spotless and comfortable . It was thoughtful to have a water dispenser in every room also.

Our host Dewi was an amazing and warm hearted soul .

"Amazing experience at Balitrees!"

I had the best week at Balitrees. Starting with the location, it is in the middle of the ricefields in a local village, so beautiful and very peaceful and quiet. All the local people are so increadibly friendly! My accomodation was also perfect, located at just 3 minutes walk from the retreat but there are also a lot of rooms at the retreat venue. The employees on the retreat are so nice, very friendly and helpful and always smiling. With a special shout out to dewi the manager, she is such a sweet person. She even invited us to attend a ceremony at her house with her family, which was so special. The yoga lessons are great and very variabele. I learnt a lot of New things. Then the cultural activities during the day are also very nice, you really get to see a bit of the True Balinese culture. Ending with the food. 3 healthy meals a day with a lot of variation. Would reccomend this retreat 10/10! I didnt wanna leave!

Doing yoga out in the open with the tropical surroundings. The cultural excursions are very interesting and bring away from the touristic area means you can shut off and experience more of real Bali. "3 night balitrees stay "

I had such a lovely time at Balitrees! I didn't expect to love it as much as I did, I ended up wanting to stay extra nights but the property was full. I came thinking that I would spend most of my time alone, but everyone is so fun and friendly that it's hard to not want to hang out with the group! I loved all of the cultural activities that were offered, and appreciated the flexibility of being able to opt in or out of the activities. The yoga exceeded my expectations - Krishna especially is such a gift! She shared so much history and insight with us while leading us in traditional Balinese yoga - it was one of the most special experiences I had during my time in Bali. The food was homemade and really yummy! I heard from others that it got repetitive after a few days, but otherwise no complaints. The entire experience felt cozy and like everyone was a big family.

"Beautiful Scenery, Great Food, Sweet Staff"

Our driver was so kind and excited to talk with us on the long trip from the airport. Once we arrived, right away, the main woman who worked at the check-in desk, Dewi, was grounded, friendly, and helpful.

The location was beautiful. We watched the local villagers tilling and planting rice along the terraces.

Those preparing the food often checked in with us to ask us how the food was and let us know we could request more, less, or shift the types of food as we needed. They accommodated so many different food needs.

The area we practiced yoga in was such a great spot, wide open to the surrounding areas. It was especially idyllic when we'd sit in meditation at the end of our yoga sessions and the rain would fall down around us.

We had some instructors who challenged us and worked with us to guide us. All the instructors were equally excited to engage with us in conversation and share their knowledge of yoga.

I'm grateful BaliTrees organized outings/cultural exchange options for us to engage in each day. I loved our trips to the nearby waterfall, the temple at Watakaru, the onsen (hot springs) visit afterward, and the traditional Balinese dance lessons. These excursions felt important as BaliTrees is quite remote.

Lastly, I loved the other guests and the dogs! We all bonded so well. You can't control who comes, but the other guests really made this an amazing trip. Bonus: we basically adopted a local dog we named Yogi--so sweet with all of us! She was our mascot.

"Excellent experience in a small village"

Everyone in the village knows each other and you don't need to worry about safety etc. Staff, people in the village, and people joining this retreat were all amazing and open-hearted. You can build a real connection with locals and get to see their life, being away from the touristic destinations in Bali. The staffs are all kind people and incredibly helpful. They are very flexible to your need as well. I was afraid of using local toilets but they were adapted to the sitting style, not squatting, and were easy to use.

"Amazing retreat"

Beautiful peaceful location overlooking the rice paddy fields in Tabanan, all the staff at Balitrees were super friendly and welcoming, and the retreat itself was so well organised. 2 yoga classes a day including beach yoga on Wednesday and Saturday mornings was awesome - all the instructors were great and had different styles of yoga which provided a nice variety. There were some organised activities like visiting a beautiful local waterfall for a swim and learning Balinese music which was fun. My package also included a daily massage which is a great bonus when you’re doing so much yoga! The accommodation provided was also lovely - I had a shared room in a small cabin just a few minutes walk from Balitrees - set in beautiful rainforest surroundings and very peaceful. The room had everything you need, water, air con, towels etc all supplied. Also the meals were delicious (mostly Indonesian style cooking), they provided vegetarian and vegan options too.

"A week in paradise!"

I had an amazing experience at Balitrees, where my expectations were exceeded.

The location is serene and surrounded by picturesque rice fields and charming villages. Even though it was mostly cloudy during my stay, you can enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and stargazing on a clear night.

The accommodations were top-notch, with well-appointed and clean rooms. They were serviced daily, and they made sure I had access to drinkable water, tea, and toiletries. As I chose the homestay package, I stayed at a nearby retreat but the free taxi service ensured that I could come and go as needed.

The food was delicious, with a variety of dishes that accommodated any dietary restrictions. The meals were always accompanied by fresh fruits, and we were sometimes treated to local pastries, which were mouth-wateringly good.

There was always something to do at Balitrees. In addition to the two daily yoga sessions, there were activities every morning and afternoon. The staff was incredibly welcoming and always ready to assist with a smile. They went above and beyond to make sure I had a great time.

The yoga+meditation classes were taught by professional instructors and covered a range of basic to intermediate-level techniques.

Lastly, I met people from all over the world, and they were all inspiring and incredible. Overall, I highly recommend Balitrees to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating retreat.

"What a wonderfull stay "

I stayed at the retreat for 5 days. The place is in the middle of nature, in a quiet village surrounded by rice fields, and this brings the right spirit to reconnect with yourself.

Accomodations are scattered across multiple points of balitrees, but it's just a few minutes walk from the main location. However, staying in the main location is much more comfortable. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff is really nice and helpful, they are ready to help you, always with a smile on their face.

The food was really good: indonesian food, nothing western, but simply, local, delicious food.

The activities were all great. Making coconut oil, preparing the basket for offerings, yoga on the beach ... all made with love and care.

Yoga was on point. Each teacher has given me something, proposed their style and their vision of yoga, and this has really helped me to open my mind to other types of yoga and teachings. It was very enriching to practice different styles every day. In addition, the view from the terrace where we did yoga was wonderful. The practices are are ok for people who have been practicing for a while, if you are a beginner it is better to specify it. The teachers were competent, prepared, humble and generous. I am glad to have met them.

The things i liked the most was yoga practice, location, and the staff... It was a wonderful experience that I will always carry in my heart.

"What a beautiful, peaceful spot for a yoga retreat"

The remoteness of the location and the beauty of the surroundings is beyond compare. The atmosphere is very communal and social with very friendly staff and guests alike. The daily yoga is wonderful, particularly sessions with Krishna, I would suggest bringing your own mat. The best activity I experienced was the waterfall, so secluded, no tourists as (other than us) and absolutely stunning.

"Lovely experience but a little different than expected"

I stayed one week in October (rainy season). The staff is wonderful, the scenery is unbelievable, and the massages are amazing. The other guests were interesting and very international. It was nice to have a little community in the middle of my longer solo trip.

The food is good—Indonesian food, adapted for your dietary requirements and with spice toned down for westerners. Rice, vegetables, tempeh, tofu, chicken, occasional fish. Fruit with every meal. I enjoyed it but it did get monotonous towards the end of my stay.

The workshops and excursions were very interesting. Even one week isn’t enough time to do absolutely everything. We always had a morning activity but many afternoon activities were canceled due to rain. It was really cool to meet more folks from the village for dance classes, making coconut oil, etc. As others have noted you can stay pretty busy. You can also skip things and relax but you’ll want to let the staff know or they will check up on you.

Accommodation was fairly basic but comfortable. Note that this is a cooperative community business and so homestays and guesthouses are scattered throughout the village. They will give you a ride back and forth to Balitrees anytime if you are staying off property. If you have a preference of where you stay it would be best to work this out with Dewi in advance. It’s convenient to be onsite but also it is quieter and more private offsite.

"Peaceful Retreat "

The staff at Balitrees is wonderful! Each person is so welcoming and approachable and that made our two week stay so enjoyable. We appreciated the twice per day yoga sessions and the other activities available. The massage options offered onsite are excellent well priced and the setting of the retreat is beautiful.

"Highlight of my holiday to Bali"

Spent 4 days at the Balitrees Yoga retreat and it was the seriously the best. This was the highlight of my 2 week holiday to Bali. I wish that I had stayed longer.

The staff are friendly and accommodating. Service is excellent. Staff will go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant experience at the retreat.

3 meals provided per day were Indonesian style, clean and healthy food to nourish your body and give you energy for class and activities. Unlimited Tea and coffee and biscuits available at all times.

Yoga classes were just right for me as a first time yogi. The instructors were open and helpful, the classes were small so there was an intimate feel and had 1-1 time with instructor as they made their way around to each person helping them out at various poses during class. My favourite part of the yoga class was the breating and meditation exercises which was a great way to start the day/class. And to top it all off we were lucky due to the weather and got to experience beach yoga which was memorable.

The massage was the best I've had in Bali so highly recommend getting it. Firm and just the right amount of pressure.

There are daily activities planned which allows you to see the sites near by and experience the local village life.

I will definitely be back and stay longer next time.

"Nice combination of Yoga and Balineese culture"

Welcoming by Dewi was wonderful as she is such a warm and welcoming person. What was nice, after getting to the retreat was not very easy for us (took a gojak, difficulties finding the place). The place was also really nice right in the middle of nowhere between beautiful nature and rice terraces. Overall, it was nice to get to know different styles of Yoga, because we had different teachers in the time, to get away from the touristic places in Bali and to get in touch with balineese culture.

"Perfect place to recharge"

I loved it! The yoga classes were varied and accessible, it was cool to learn more about the Balinese style!! The activity options were super interesting and everyone that works at Balitree were really friendly and positive about sharing knowledge about their culture. Dewi in particular is so helpful and really makes you feel welcome.

This retreat seemed to attract lovely and genuine types, during my stay many people came and went and there was a real warm and enjoyable social element to the experience, especially when we shared our meals together. There is also plenty of time and space to take for yourself (as an introvert, it was perfect).

Thanks Balitree for a wonderful stay!

The retreat was life changing and magical. Everyone was so nice, positive and friendly. This retreat involves the locals from the village and you get a very authentic experience. The accommodations were clean and the views of the rice field were awesome. The food was great! There are so many activities to do at this retreat. I brought a book with me just in case but I never opened my book. I was never bored. I made so many friends from this retreat with like minds and we plan to keep in touch. " Amazing, heart warming and soul healing retreat"

The staff were so friendly, easy going, accommodating and made you felt like part of the big village family. I pretty much didn’t have to worry about a thing during the retreat as everything was taken care of or easily can ask one of the staff members to help with. The morning and afternoon yoga sessions were a great balance of mediation, beginners yoga and challenging poses to help you improve. All the other guests at the retreat were so lovely - it was amazing to hear about everyone’s story and to hang out together. I stayed in one of the villas across the main rice patties from the main retreat building - it had a little terrace outside where I could chill, meditate and admire the views. The room was sizeable, simple and had all your basic amenities - you can also ask for a hair dryer if you didn’t bring one. My highlight had to be beach yoga and the delicious corn, tofu and tempeh satays that the team prepared for you afterwards. There are also other daily activities that you can sign up to or just take it chill by the pool. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for their first yoga retreat in Bali !

"Great Yoga retreat getaway in the Village"

Have to admit I was a bit nervous going to a location I haven't heard of, wasn't sure what to expect. That all disappeared as I arrived and was greeted warmly by Dewi. Her great smile and laugh just put you at ease right away.

The villas were spacious and clean, though I did have a double all to myself.

The food was nice and you could adjust to your liking, just let them know what you require. Plenty of freash fruit & juices.

The Yoga instructors were great, both Achie & Krishna knew their art very well.

The massages were some of the best I've had and very reasonably priced.

The additional activities were awesome - making coconut oil was probably my favorite, closely followed by Dewi's making of Offerings *sorry Dewi :) *

Yossi was always there to take you where you needed to get to and lastly but not least, a big shout out to the rest of the staff whose names I never got around to learning but greatly appreciate their great work.

I also had some fantastic runs through the village and highly recommend.

So, in a nutshell - highly recommend and hope to get back there in the near future.

"A True Balinese Yoga Retreat Experience! Recommend to all."

What a beautiful place! Such a unique opportunity to connect with authentic Balinese culture, and be a part of a special community that is like family. I spent 4 days at Balitrees and had the most amazing time. The yoga classes were the perfect mixed of relaxed and challenging, and were taught by two very experienced and legitimate teachers. The staff were so genuine and open, with many opening up to and sharing their personal stories with me (in a very natural and authentic way). There were daily activities, a massage, and delicious vegetarian meals included as well. You literally just had to show up and everything was taken care of.

The most spectacular part of the experience for me was finding out afterwards that all of the friendly faces at the retreat - in fact, those who worked there, and those who hosted a lot of the programming, were are all a part of the same community and home units. It was so heartwarming to see a community of people from a village open up their homes with such pride, respect, and gratitude to allow guests to experience the real Balinese culture.

This was a highlight of my trip to Southeast Asia for sure! There’s a special mix of something here that you just can’t find elsewhere. I highly recommend those looking for an authentic and community-based experience to come to BaliTrees.

"This is exactly what I need after 2 years of not travelling "

The retreat location is amazing. Around an hour drive from Canggu, you will arrive the tranquil Balitrees retreat in Tabana. The first thing is see is omnigenous of rice paddle field, which you can’t really find them in tourist hot spot in Bali.

The yoga instructors is very knowledgeable and they shared wisdoms on traditional Balinese Yoga and meditation. You will enjoy the spectacular view of the village while practicing yoga. Mediation is always echoed by birds chipping or the bamboo sound. (I don’t know how to describe it but that’s a zen moment.) For beginner practitioner like me, I found it helps me to stay present and focused.

I am quite picky in food. But I finished every meal here. Before coming to the village, I didn’t know local Balinese can be flavourful (tips: ask for the sambal sauce if you like spicy. I almost added them on every meal.) Food are not gourmet standard but definitely delicious and healthy. One thing I would suggest is to provide coconut water. I had been craving them for the whole retreat.

My accommodation is lovely. The water pressure from the shower is strong so I have nothing to complain :)

Last but not least, I have to thank you for the team for all the arrangement. Yoshi and Dewi are very kind and lovely people. I do wanna see them again.

Everything made my stay in Balitress so memorable. Last year had been a tough business year for Bali, I do hope Bali will revive again.

"Authentic Balinese experience exceeded our expectations "

If you’re looking for a 5 star retreat this is not for you. But if you’re looking for a true cultural immersion and a chance to experience life in a small Balinese village in the picturesque terraced rice paddies with traditional yoga, delicious healthy meals prepared with care, and a chance to experience kind, gentle, spiritual people you can stop looking, BALITREES is the place for you. Here you can use your money and time to support an extended family, along with many people in the village who haven’t have many guests since COVID hit.

After a 2 week stay, my daughter and I literally feel like we now have a new Bali family. We were welcomed so warmly, not just at the BALITREES yoga retreat, but throughout the entire village of Sesandan. We were invited to traditional village experiences and Hindu celebrations with many smiles

Krishna and Adi taught us traditional Balinese yoga every morning and afternoon. Made accommodated our vegan diets and prepared us delicious healthy meals everyday. Dewi took us on morning and afternoon walks sharing stories about life in her village. Yossi organized and delivered us to many local sites and cultural experiences while expertly dodging scooters and weaving through traffic while visiting sites outside of the village and was sweetly protective of us like a brother. Agus welcomed us at the airport, drove us to BALITREES and looked out for us in town. And Andri and Mari always had smiles on their faces when helping us.

The people here are so welcoming and really take care of you and listen to anything you wish to add on to your trip. They go above and beyond what is expected and really they cannot be faulted. I stayed in a lovely home stay short walk from the yoga centre and woke up to a plate of fresh fruit waiting outside my front door most mornings. it's the first time for me and my partner doing a yoga retreat and everything was beyond expectations - starting from the location, in a small village, away from city stress and pollution. We stayed over in a guest house, hosted by a villager (Mr. Wayan), which was fabulous - clean, comfortable and truly authentic. Food was exceptional, freshly cooked every day and I ate the best mangoes and fruits of my life. Yoga was great indeed, quite different vs. sport yoga - more spiritual. Cultural activities in the village well thought and planned.

"great way to embrace nature and local community"

i love how Balitrees is located right next to rice terrace and surrounded by nature. The location feels exclusive but not so out of reach. I also love how they work with neighborhood guest houses to accommodate guests, and not building massive building complex for it, which is more sustainable for the land. The staff in Balitrees are all very friendly and very accommodating to our need. There are assorted activities arranged everyday from morning to the evening. We get to experience local culture such as baliness dance, or learn how to make coconut oil, or just simple jump into the pond of waterfall for a refreshing dip. I also love the opportunities to meet people from around the world who all chose to be there, meaning we are all looking for the similar experience.

Balitrees is a heartwarming place with friendly people, beautiful scenery, and fulfilled with relaxing and harmonious ambience which is what I hoped for a short birthday holiday break! The staff remembers you like treating you back to home. Yoga was conducted twice a day, and teachers are very knowledgeable and will explain asana poses and also talking about chakras and mantras in breakdown. Foods are prepared with very generous portion. May request for airport transfer which driver is very friendly. Local activities are arranged with options given, though sometimes my preferred activities was cancelled / unavailable which may due to local ceremonial activities and only being told last minute. But it was totally understandable and staff will arrange other activities as compensation. Be with an open heart and expect for surprise! Definitely worth for multiple visits and highly recommended!! Thank you Balitrees!

I love the way they treat people like family. They care, they worry and talk with upmost respect.

The warmth can be felt from the people in the village every where. It felt great waking up to a beautiful view. I felt that everything is in the right places it may not be perfect but it is satisfying enough. Saying things here is not enough to describe the experience, I recommend you try even for a few days. I stayed for 8. I found peace and confidence. I felt energy and vibe passed on from the place, people and attitudes. You will have chances to meet people which is another good experience but it feel that the retreat itself made it possible. You wont get bored if you're open minded. Its a place to help you love yourself more and think about good things about people and possibly life which is i think is one of the spiritual goal of the retreat.

Everything about this retreat was amazing! The yoga was unlike any other yoga I had ever learned, incredibly unique and traditional balinese style. The location was on a beautiful rice field that was so pretty at sunset and sunrise. The facilities were always really clean and the beds were so comfy. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I miss the food so much. They would always make traditional balinese food with fresh rice, veggies, and fruits. Lastly, the activities provided during the day between yoga were incredible. I learned Tai Chi, martial arts, balinese drawing, went to a waterfall, had a traditional balinese massage... and so much more! Loved this retreat and really wish I didn't have to leave

"super mooie Balinese yoga ervaring"

"Fabulous time at the retreat"

It was relaxed and interesting. It was a different style of yoga to what I have been doing so it was nice to learn a new style and understand where it came from.

The staff were amazing and couldn’t be more helpful.

My delux accomodation was super clean and comfortable.

I loved that it was remote and a small group.

"Amazing Experience & Highly Recommended"

I loved everything❤️ It was a perfect tranquil setting surrounded with beautiful rice fields. The Balitrees team and the people in the village are very humble and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you in anyway. Our Yoga Teachers Krishna and Gede were wonderful teachers and always available if you have any questions. Made, who took us to all of our activities, was so accommodating and shared his knowledge openly. The yoga and all activities were amazing. I enjoyed everything. The people who stayed there are from all over the world. It was amazing to get to know each other, and I feel I have made friends for life. I am definitely coming back and will be bringing friends to join me. I missed Balitrees as soon as I left, it is such a special place. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful life changing experience and authentic Balinese way of living ❤️🙏❤️

"Great experience "

The retreat exceded my expectations. The instructors were great; the food was healthy, varied and delicious; the location is beautiful; and the accommodations and the facilities are excellent. The staff is first class and do their best to meet the needs of the participants. I am particularly grateful with Dewi, who went out of her way to get a medication that I desperately needed.

"Lovely retreat in a beautiful environment"

I I loved the retreat so much, the days passed so quickly. I enjoyed the yoga very much, because it was so different from the European yoga I was used to as they practice traditional balinese yoga. Also the surroundings are beautiful and enjoyed all the activities between the yoga sessions. A lot of the people from the village are involved in this retreat and it was great to get a little inside in their lives. Definitely would recommend this retreat!!

"Retraite Balitrees"

"Cannot be better. Perfect place ❤️"

My accommodation was very nice, food was super tasty, daily activities were very good organized, and I fell in love with yoga and continue practice at home.

I was looking for quite beautiful place, where I could relax and other people could plane my daily activities, something like “all inclusive”, but Balinese style - and Balitrees was just PERFECT perfect place.

Also before coming to Bali I had such a strong back pain, but they literally fixed my body, all of those massages (traditional, modern and other one😃), yoga helped me with that problem.

But the best thing about the place is people. Local people and Balitrees team are super friendly ad helpful ❤️

Thank you so much❤️ I had an amazing time ❤️

"Amazing experience!"

This was an amazing experience! This retreat Centre is in a small community which was perfect for everyone in my group of 9. I was afraid there would be too much down time but that totally was not the case. Balitrees offers many cultural activities which created some very intriguing opportunities. Of course if you preferred to go to the quiet area and relax with your journal or book, there was always space. The yoga teachers were quite knowledgeable and were passionate about sharing and teaching. We all felt very accomplished completing our exam and receiving our yoga certification.I really can't find anything that I would complain about.... food was great, staff were amazing, the rooms/beds/pillows were very comfortable, location was beautiful and the community was very welcoming! They really have an attention to the details and creating a unique experience. I will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone at Balitrees!

I had been looking forward to this retreat for a very long time and it didn’t disappoint. We loved everything! It was a perfect setting next to beautiful rice fields to reflect and feel calm. We practiced yoga and meditation sessions twice a day with activities. I really enjoyed the rice farming and tai chi! Dewi and Made Yosi were very kind and helpful, as well as the other staff. The guest room was beautiful and the relaxation area was lovely! I would definitely love to come again. Our instructors Krishna and Gede were wonderful teachers and lovely people.

"Amazing value! A highlight in my travels "

Bali trees was such a special experience and an amazing value! I have been traveling around SE Asia for 5 months and it was been one of the highlights so far. The staff is wonderful and make you feel like part of a family. The yoga and yoga instructors were fantastic. I became more flexible and was able to do a head stand after only a short amount of time! The food was so delicious that I went for seconds almost every time. The activities are great as well! I got to know some of the villagers and learned some Balinese, how to farm rice, make coconut oil and participated in a trash clean up! The villagers also put on a show with traditional Balinese music and dancing. There was only about 8 of us and about 30+ Balinese villagers. It was all very special and fun! The massages were great as well! I would happily do this retreat again and would recommend it to everyone. :)

"Had an awesome 7D6N retreat at Balitrees!"

1. Good spread of food and they will ensure that you're well fed. The chef also surprised us with bakso one day as some of us were craving for it!

2. Very accommodating team as they are very flexible for you to choose your own cultural activity. I like the fact that Balitrees teams up with the local villagers to provide homestay service and organise the cultural activities for the guests. The whole team works like a family to me.

3. Some of my favourite activities include sunset beach yoga, making coconut oil, learning Balinese language (and some basic Sanskrit characters too!), pencak silat and the village swing (felt like roller coaster to me!). For those thirsty guests like me, they were so nice to drop us off at a convenient store to get our Bintang "juice" to enjoy with dinner :D

4. The traditional massage (foot reflexology) was painful but very enjoyable. My modern massage at Baligreen was good too by Martha.

5. My first time learning moon salutation and chakra opening in Balinese way.

"The best retreat in Bali!"

Absolutely everything! This retreat went above and beyond to make my stay extremely memorable. Not only did Adi provide full service across the board, but he made sure that my request for maximum Silat training was fulfilled. Between Adi, Gede, and Made Yosi and all of the wonderful ladies at the retreat you couldnt ask for a better crew of people. Balitrees really immerses you in the culture and makes sure that you have an intimate and enjoyable experience of everything Bali has to offer. We were kept well fed, engaged, and sore from all of our hardcore yoga and silat classes.

If you are thinking of booking this retreat for yoga or silat, stop waiting and DO IT. The value of this experience goes far beyond money but hits right at the core of what any traveler would want. A fully immersive experience with people who make it even better.

At Balitrees there is such a great community of people working together to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. There are partnerships within the village which enable the daily activities, like the balinese music class. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe and supported, there was a sociable atmosphere with everybody eating together and hanging out.

"Excellent stay, excellent training!"

My sister and I came to complete the 8-day yoga teacher training and had a wonderful experience!

We stayed at Bali Red Roses homestay - a short walk down the road from BaliTrees. Our host Wayan and his family were so sweet and accommodating; Wayan was very helpful and kind and kept our room & the washroom very clean.

The daily meals made by BaliTrees staff were delicious! Every meal we had was fantastic and there was always a good amount of food available. Coffee and tea were available all day, which was great. We had two meals outside of BaliTrees that were excellent as well.

The staff at BaliTrees were all very kind and helpful. Made Yosi, who took us to all of our activities, was a great and accommodating driver. The activities themselves were lots of fun, and very informative! My favourite activities were rice farming and making coconut oil. The traditional Balinese dance performance was also outstanding!

Each one of the yoga instructors were very skilled, knowledgeable, and helpful. They were able to answer all of our questions and help us to improve our form and learn new skills. The Balinese Watukaru yoga style we trained in was new to us, and we found it very beautiful and powerful to learn and train in. The instructors were excellent in helping us prepare for our Level One teaching exam, and we will be glad to come back and train again with them for Level Two!

Overall it was a wonderful week with wonderful training in a beautiful place.

I stayed at Balitrees for 5 days! It’s an amazing little retreat in a small Balinese village, away from other tourists. It is surrounded by stunning views of the rice fields. The retreat is great for solo travellers since everyone eats together and you can quickly form bonds with people. I met some great people! The yoga and meditation were great and the village activities were super!

The retreat location is so beautiful away from tourists. I loved the homemade Balinese food, tasty different options on every meal and day. The rooms were clean and spacious and they had all you need at a yoga retreat. Plenty of activities to choose from and very educating yoga and meditation classes. "Amazingly rich experience!"

Our stay at Balitrees was so culturally rich. My wife and I are 38 years old, and we stayed for 8 days to complete the Yoga Teacher Training, passing Level I of Balinese Watukaru Traditional Yoga.

Things we LOVED:

Yoga twice a day; Mondays and Fridays yoga on the beach.

- Cultural experiences and activities - Making Balinese Pastries, making homemade coconut oil, Hindu offerings, visiting temples; and visiting the Shaman

- Breakfast, lunch and dinner were home cooked and authentic local cuisine, very healthy and delicious

- Beautiful surroundings with a view of the rice paddies and palm trees

- Peaceful and serene. Balitrees is a great place to unwind, get away from it all, and focus on your mental health.

Accommodations are clean, beautiful and simple. We stayed in the bungalows onsite. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Another great aspect of our experience was the people we met at the retreat, we met so many wonderful people from around the world including US, Canada, Mexico, Poland, Denmark, Paraguay, and U.K.

Balitrees retreat was one of the best parts of our trip to Bali. It was a really authentic experience and apart from yoga we got to experience the balinese culture and the daily life in the village which we really enjoyed. The location was amazing. The village was beautiful and peaceful with yoga lessons in front of rice fields. We had most of our yoga classes with Krishna and we really enjoyed them. "My Wellness experience "

My first experience of a Wellness Retreat and it was so much more than I imagined. Adi & Dewi answered all my questions and arranged transport - putting up with my change in dates - accomodating me with no issues.

Staff were extremely friendly.

The yoga and activities were so much more than I imagined - I wish I had more time to experience them all!

Food was exceptional- traditional Balinese cooked fresh for every meal and plenty to eat.

My only fault was the hardness if the bed - some would not have a problem with that. The huts were extremely comfortable and great to get away from TV.

Meeting so many travellers from around the world who were so friendly and happy sharing their stories.

It truly was the highlight of my stay in Bali.

I have no hesitation in recommending and look forward to going back.

I missed as soon as I left.

"Great relaxation and balancing getaway"

The people in the village and Balitrees team are very humble and friendly. Everybody are very helpful. There are a lot of activites that you can choose for you to experience firsthand the Balinese cultural activities. Some of my favourites are visiting shaman and wear their traditional clothes, watch traditional Balinese dance and going to waterfalls.

Yoga teachers are very attentive and informative, they correct your posture and explain the purpose/meaning behind each yoga movements which was splendid. Thus makes me understand that every movement is related to rejuvenate and to make certain organ or some part in your body to be healthier. Yoga is suitable for beginner to advance practitioners, the teaching is traditional Balinese Watukaru yoga sun and moon salutation, meditation and chanting.

The area itself is so refreshing surrounded by ricefields, accomodation is good, room and toilet are cleaned everyday during yoga session. Never lack of food and tasted great as well (1 type of fruits and 3 types of dishes), drinks are unlimited mineral water/coffee/tea.

"A deeper experience in Bali"

If you are interested in a deeper experience in Bali, you should visit Balitrees. The location is amazing, so serene and peaceful, overlooking rice fields. You practice yoga twice per day. I loved how we learned a more spiritual and traditional Balinese yoga practice. It's simple, perfect for anyone who is trying to learn the true foundation of yoga. Balitrees is much more that just a yoga retreat, it's more like a cultural experience. Each day you can choose an afternoon activity and evening activity in the local village. Like visiting a nearby secret waterfall or getting a Balinese massage. Massages are cheap and amazing. We also watched a dance performance of the local village. You are served breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is all prepared on site. My favorite was the fresh fruits. Everyone who works at Balitrees is amazing and they deserve all of the credit, especially our driver, Made. They work really hard and create a heart warming experience for the guests. Hopefully one day I can visit again.

"A retreat experience SUPER recommended"

One week life in Balitrees fulfills both of my soul and energy! It was one of the best and most unforgettable experience in my recent years journey!

The highlight is the whole team of Balitrees who are so warm and take care of everything very well, for e.g. my driver Hedra is super nice and responsible, they arrange activities flexibility upon our request (Special thanks to Mr. Activity, Yoshi and Dewi!)

Yoga teachers Krishna and Gede Arya are excellent and are the BEST I have ever met! The sessions are not only about how to do good poses, but more importantly how to connect with your body and the natural energy, to a spiritual level. Every lesson was ended with lots of sweat and wholeheartedly joyfulness and fulfillment! I could hardly believe I am able to do “headstand” for a moment with their assistant and tones of encourage! The beach yoga session is so much relaxed and very impressive!

The local cultural activities are organized by local people living in the villages, they are so much fun, as well we could join up and connect with their daily life. I never feel bored or empty in the retreats with plenty of activities to choose from. Bali Swing, Waterfall excursion, Mask dance show, Tai Chi and Martial Arts are my favourite!

Balitrees is the best part of my Bail solo journey, I met many great people there who supported each other! I am so blessed to have this experience and got lots of precious memories here! SHANTI 🙏

Also enjoyed the opportunity to engage with local people in their homes learning aspects of their lifestyle, coconut oil making, pastry cooking etc. the local people are very warm and friendly despite our language barriers

It was great to try traditional massage from the local healing man and acupressure massage guy...between them my hip has regained mobility to cross my legs again....something I have been trying to resolve for the last 4 months!

Food was always delicious. Staff always friendly and willing to help. Madee would always organise lifts for you to go places without charge when local

It was great how the additional cultural activities are also included in the retreat price!

Accomodation is updated and clean

A complete body mind and soul experience immersed in Balinese local culture....without the bustle of westernised tourism.

Beautiful and peaceful atmosphere full of connection to village, villagers, earth, water, sky, earth, moon. The yoga and meditation were very spiritual and positive for both my body and mind. The extra activities offered in both the morning and afternoon are varied, fun, informative and included in the price. Highly recommend.

The place is peaceful sorounding by the rice fields, the staff are great (specially Dewi she is the manager and also we had one yoga class with her and the first class of her, was great! ). The food is really good. The waterfall near is incredible, the selfie point and swing is a great view and the making coconut oil with lovely people, all the staff will help you for whatever you need. The blessing from shaman is amazing!

"Fantastic experience at Balitrees! Loved every minute!"

The hospitality and kindness of the people here was fabulous. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding and incredibly fresh. They offered to do my laundry at no additional cost and had a wonderful selection of activities to do each day. The location is everything that you would want and expect from Bali... Rice Fields, beautiful sunset views, peace and quiet, and they even had an awesome Balinese swing in the village. I was really happy with the yoga classes, especially since there was only a few of us (max of 10 guests at once) so it was really personal. I had an incredible time and I will definitely be back. 🤩 Very very grateful to the entire Balitrees staff.

"Best thing I’ve done in Bali!!"

The whole community were so incredibly welcoming - not just the people working at Balitrees but everyone I met. It’s a wonderful group of people in the village and I felt honoured to get to know you all! Additionally, the location is spectacular - doing yoga surrounded by rice fields - you really can’t beat it! The food was divine and the accommodation was very comfortable and of a high standard in general. It was also really lovely to do traditional Balinese yoga that focuses on the spiritual side of yoga. All round a fabulous few days!! I did 3 days but will definitely be back for more in the future. :-)

"Magic stay in the nature"

Great welcome in the village, it is the perfect location to shut down from the touristic spots. We were a small group and had the opportunity to meet the locals and discover their various activities. The yoga approach is different then the studios ones and you learn about its grounds and history. I even stayed one day more because I didn’t wanted to leave! You definitely get the value back for your money. I recommend it to everyone interested in self development or who wants to learn about the Bali culture. This place is full of Love and you integrate a big village family for a few days.

"A great experience at Balitrees"

I really enjoyed my time at Balitrees Yoga Retreat, just wish I booked for longer. Everything was great. It was a true Balinese cultural experience and I loved mixing with the locals both at the retreat and in the village. We were all made to feel so welcome and comfortable. The yoga with Krishna was fun and easy to follow. The style is good for beginners and more advanced. The accommodation was very comfortable and the traditional food was very good and there was lots of it! The extra activities after yoga twice a day were fun, always lots to do at Balitrees if you want to. The scenery was breathtaking and the air so clean.

I definately recommend Balitrees to experience the traditional culture and as a great place to escape to.

"Amazing yoga retreat and authentic cultural experience"

I loved everything about Balitrees!

The yoga sessions, the activities (making coconut oil, visiting the waterfall, massages,...) and the food! And all the people involved had been so lovely and made it extra special.

I did the 8 days teacher training.

And even though it's not a standard teacher training, it was perfect for my purposes. To still have enough time to experience Bali, but still be introduced to the Balinese style yoga in order to be able to pass it on.

I would definitely come back and can highly recommend a retreat at Balitrees!

"Great easy-going stay"

We stayed in Balitrees (on-site near the yoga room) for 3 nights in 2019. Food: excellent, some tasty local food was had, although portion sizes were occasionally small. Popular items like boiled eggs would sometimes run out. Facilities: sparse but definitely high quality (by Bali standards). Enjoyed firm mattresses, our room had good privacy, and the outdoor yoga studio was superb with good quality mats, blocks and soft floors - which was good for headstands and falling over. Yoga teaching: very good, Krisha was fun and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed the level which was not too high. Activities were superb - especially the waterfall visit which was easily a highlight of the whole holiday. Staff: also very good, very friendly and accommodating. After a waterfall visit they provided extra towels. At the retreat, activities are done on a democratic basis (i.e. they can only let the guests do one activity which they have to agree on), anf they were always trying to be flexible to meet our needs. Communication with the staff via Whatsapp was easy too.

"Honest Review "

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here and the Balinese activities. This is for sure worth your money! The drivers are so kind and they take you wherever you want to go! There is a massage that’s included which is AMAZING and things you would end up paying for (ex: large swing) is included in the price of your stay! Also, the bedrooms are very clean and they make your bed each day after breakfast. I enjoyed the easy to follow schedule with the flexibility to choose what activities to partake in. I would definitely recommend this retreat for the activities and the cheap accommodation!

I absolutely loved my time at Baligreens. The service was amazing from Mate and the team! I thoroughly enjoyed Krishna and Gede’s yoga classes. They are both very passionate instructors and share valuable information to improve your practice. I specifically loved the different cultural activities that were offered. The martial arts and Tai chi were my favourite. The food and accommodation was great and the location is stunning. "Best Time Ever @ Balitrees"

The whole experience was amazing. Balitrees is run by traditional Balinese families who couldn't take care of you any better. Through the activities in between excellent yoga sessions (amazing options and flexibility) you'll get to know the culture in so many ways. The place, facing glorious ricefields is just worth staring at for hours. We had the best massage, visited a waterfall and a beautiful swing whilst others did taichi or martial arts. All by Balinese staff running the place. The yoga classes were brilliant, and that includes the meditation. A must for when you're in Bali!

I was in Balitrees Retreat for about 3 nights , it was one of the most amazing experience with Deep connection to Yoga and Spirit.

Everything was exceptionally good and the hospitality and the people were just like a family.

They were really kind and flexible.

Its a perfect place to connect to yourself and to nature.

Its a pure and a simple place with lots of energy and greenery.

The food is mostly organic and fresh and the accommodation is basic covering almost all basic requirements.

The people are really helpful and happy to take care of all your request.

It was like a heaven in one corner of bali.

Staff and workers were amazing! Very friendly and very helpful with all of our needs. They were always smiling and so happy, the energy there is so positive. The food was delicious and with many vegetarian options. Lots of different choices for activities and the schedule was very flexible so we were able enjoy what we wanted. The yoga instructors were very skilled in the Balinese yoga and Thai Chi. If we requested special stretching and partner exercises they didn't hesitate to put it into the routine for the day. If you have questions for the instructors, they quickly help you with answers and suggestions. Also, the home stays are really cool because the area is a whole village, everyone knows each other like family, and you can stay in someone's home and it's like you have a new family too. The Balinese way is to be a host to everyone and they really are, this location is so peaceful and special and just the place we were looking for.

Made Yoshi- thank you so much for taking such great care of us, you are a very kind, patient man!

Jess- We didn't get to day bye! But thanks for being such a great middle-man and helping us understand everything, and sharing with us. It was great to meet you!

I refreshed my mind and body after 7 day retreats at Balitrees. The location was breathtaking, surrounded by the terraced paddy fields. The room was clean and comfortable. All staff was very warm and welcoming. The yoga instructors were well trained and friendly. Balinese yoga much more focused on spiritual, so there were a lot of mantras and meditation during 2 hour session twice a day. Besides yoga, there were a lot of activities to do. For example, coconut oil making, language class, cooking class, shaman healer...etc., which also supports local community.

It was lovely vacation, meeting new people, doing new things, and learning a different culture. Thank you to everyone at Balitrees!

"Pleasant surprise for a total beginner"

Booking a yoga retreat was way out of my comfort zone. I was hoping for a great experience, but I was also nervous about everything, from being laughed at at yoga to being brainwashed into a cult. 😂 Of course none of that happened! Every little thing turned out to be a positive surprise. The yoga instructor was warm, welcoming, and gave great instructions and feedback, and set the mood in the group so everyone helped and cheered for each other. All staff was incredibly friendly (even by indonesian standards!) and after a short while you almost felt like part of the family. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful (finally I could enjoy the landscape without the littering and garbage that plagues big parts of Bali today). The cultural activities and visits around the village felt genuine and non-expoitative.

I would really recommend this retreat for anyone, especially if you are a total beginner like me in yoga, and also if you care about the environment and culture of Bali.

Thank you for this experience, I wish I could have stayed longer! ❤️

Everything about my Balitrees experience is great. Communication upon booking was easy and prompt. The description and the instructions for pick up were very clear. All the staff that I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. Our instructor for yoga was amazing and very patient, I very much enjoyed all the sessions. I also liked the variety of activities that one could choose from and the coordination of the staff that organises them is impressive as they will always take your option into consideration. This retreat was a very positive experience and I will certainly recommend it to friends and family. Thank you to everyone at Balitrees for sharing your beautiful and special place.

"Fantastic getaway in the middle of the padi fields"

Dewi and the team was very warm and welcoming and the stay was fabulous. The beds were comfortable with mosquito nets and the room and toilet were clean. The yoga practiced here was more religious and spiritual compared to classes in Singapore which was interesting and refreshing for me. Also learnt about the different forms of meditation from Krishna (including taichi!).

There were also a lot of activities to do - definitely no worries about boredom but i would suggest informing them in advance of the activity you would like to do so that they have time to prepare. Food was good too!

The place is a little far from the airport but its worth the travel for the peace and quiet and fewer tourists. Madiuisi still waited with us at Tabanan City to make sure we got on our grab ride safely to the airport.

All in all, i had an amazing time. Thank you Adi, Dewi, Rai, Krishna, Madiuisi and the team!

"Fantastic! "

I liked the most the atmosphere at the retreat. People, location, the accommodation, food and yoga classes were just as everything I expected and even more.

I had 8 days teacher training during Christmas 2018 at the reatreat and had most wonderful time. All people participated at the yoga classes were also very supportive and same-minded.

I stayed not at the guest house and was very pleased with that. However, everyone who I met stayed at the guest house also were fully satisfied. The retreat offers various activities and yoga classe taking different places to make your retreat even more memorable. I highly recocomnd everyone to experinace what I did and meet these wonderful people. It’s truly worth it. Go for it, do not hesitate! Namaste. 🙏

"Great Yoga, friendly people and lots to do"

Organised and friendly retreat. Communal dining area where we got to congregate after yoga. Yoga was good and catered to all abilities. Area is peaceful and full of nature. The village was friendly and everyone had a smile.

I traveled solo and was please to find many others who had also done the same! It was also my first time in Bali, my first yoga retreat experience and almost my first yoga session (I've had 2-3 yoga sessions in the last 10 years of my life, the last lesson approx 5 years ago!). Anxiety is expected as a lot of firsts for me, though I was made to feel at home very quickly.

There's a list of optional activities, or you can ask if there is anything in particular you would like to do instead and if they will try and accommodate. So there is plenty to do (such as seeing the Shaman, massage, coconut oil making, waterfall, trekking). Or if you prefer you can just sit and relax in the serene environment. I stayed in the guesthouse which was great in terms of location and quality. I also had a look at some of the homestays and they also seem very accomodating.

Made Yoshi drove us everywhere to the activities and beyond! All staff looked after us so thanks to Dewi, Krishna, Gede and the rest for making this a enjoyable experience amd taking care of all of us! I will be returning and will be bringing my friends along! I highly recommend this retreat!

"An unforgettable experience and will definitely return"

When I first booked my trip to Bali I really wanted to learn Pencak Silat, this is due to inspiration from movies like Raid Redemption and Raid Redemption 2 featuring Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian.

They showed great passion on the screen as well that it is a real martial art form applicable in all situations.

The teacher at Balitrees, Guru Gede is fully trained in all 72 styles of Pencak Silat and will teach you anything he knows even though his English is not so strong, it is enough to fully understand.

Guru Krishna, the yoga and meditation teacher helped me greatly with her calmness.

Dewi, the general manager shows great love and concern to all.

Made Yosi the tour guide will make sure you can visit all the sites on Bali you want to see.

Hendra the security guard and driver from the airport makes sure you feel safe and the owner Adi deserves a special mention. I was hospitalized for 3 days due to a severe case of Bronchitis and medicine poisoning which caused a delirium; he and my girlfriend took great care of me and without their help I would probably be still very ill right now.

Even though my time was short at Balitrees, I learned valuable lessons that I will carry with me in life and can fully say I am able to defend myself to most physical attacks due to the wise lessons from Guru Gede.

Thank you everyone at Balitrees! We will come back so we can do some real training and not an hospital holiday!

With kindest Regards,

Marcel & Sheila

"Good getaway from touristy Bali "

I arrived late due to flight delay and they had kindly arranged a pickup for me and a drop off for dinner along the way. Yosi waited for me at my Homestay and guided me to my room. In the morning, Yosi will come and pick me up to the retreat meal area. At the end of day, he would send me back. He was very caring by ensuring the guests are well. One of the guest was feeling unwell and he took the initiative to buy some Panadol and Pocari for her.

The set up is inside a village amid the padi fields. It’s breezy and scenic during our yoga sessions. Mats were provided. Both Krishna and Komang were friendly and clear in their instructions. They even organized a yoga and mediation by the beach during sunset. Totally awesome!

"Perfect for my first yoga retreat "

The instructors were excellent, very supportive and encouraging. There was plenty of flexibility (pun intended) in what we did for our two yoga sessions each day, while still teaching us about the traditions and giving us serious workouts. Our group was only 6 people, which was really perfect. We also arrived at basically the same time, so we got to experience it all at the same pace. The activities as options were all interesting, and there wasn’t enough time to do them all. Our group found we had similar interests, so we did the activities together, although that wasn’t a requirement.

The staff were quite attentive. It was particularly impressive to learn that Balitrees is still relatively young as a business - there is much that is already professionally in place, and there is obviously growth in the plans to make things even more special. 4 days, 3 nights was exactly the right amount of time for me, and I think it was fortunate we had the same group together in that time.

The organization ahead of time was very simple - Dewi made it all easy, once I made the initial reservation, and I knew what to expect, and when for transportation to and from Balitrees from Tabanan. On site, it all went smoothly.

Getting to experience some of the local culture was also rewarding and enlightening.

"Wonderful experience"

The place is just amazing. You can not get tired of the view from the yoga room. The food? You feel that it's made with care and it is very tasty!

From the moment I contacted them they were fast and efficient answering my questions and organizing my arrival with detail.

The yoga class was good and very interesting. I really like it when the teacher explains you the benefits of the asana.

The activities were also interesting. They show you the real Balines life. I felt that they have a strong sense of community.

Each and everyone of them made us feel at home

"Perfect stay in the paddy fields "

The stunning paddy fields were peaceful and uninterrupted, and perfect for a yoga retreat. Dewi and Made were so patient and helpful despite our many requests, and always went the extra mile to answer our queries and make things better for us. The home cooked meals were delicious too! Balitrees also has the noble intent of wanting the retreat to benefit the rest of the villagers, and I really respect that.

"A peice of paradise"

This was more than just yoga. It was a glance into balinese village life. The were activities every day that you could do if you wanted - rice farming, making coconut oil, helping with the cooking, martial arts, and more.

The yoga was great, the instructor,

khrishna, explained how this traditional balinese yoga was different, and why meditation and mantras were an important part of yoga practice.

The staff were so friendly, the food was delicious, and all of the guests become like family.

"An amazing experience- paradise "

I had an amazing couple of days in balitrees. I am so glad I stumbled across this retreat on the internet and was blown away by such positive reviews. But now I completely understand and give this place a 10/10. Thank you so much to Krishna and gede, they were amazing teachers. The highlights for me were hearing the Balinese traditions and how the yoga has been passed down to them through generations, the gorgeous retreat goers I met, the fresh fruit growing everyone, witnessing the brightest sky full of stars, making coconut oil, the swing and surrounding area, singing the cranberries with the local musician, visiting the local shaman. I really felt like I was well off the tourist trail :)

The people all were very sweet and warm, the room was fine, the yoga was good for beginners and more advanced yogi's, the teachers were good and committed, the activities were nice, the food was delicious, especially the green pancakes rolls and the group atmosphere was very nice. And also very sweet....I had an injury, so I couldn't join the yoga and Pencak Silat classes anymore. I wanted to leave earlier and that was no problem. Thank you!

"The real Bali"

The staff and everyone that I came into contact with were all very warm, friendly and welcoming. The overall experience was great and so interesting. The food we were served was delicious and some that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to try elsewhere. The activities were fun and showed the village life well, though I wasn’t there for long enough to do them all. The staff were incredibly accommodating of everyone’s needs and went out of their way to try to make sure that everyone was able to do the activities that they wanted. I was able to book a transfer to Ubud through them.

"Must-go for Yoga and Culture Enthusiasts "

There are so many things that impressed me about this tight-knitted yoga retreat establishment. I really like the spiritual yoga taught by Krishna and Gede. They made me realise that Yoga, when practised correctly, is meant to be relaxing and not punishing/tiring. The chanting of mantras, chakra opening, and meditation to end off the sessions really helped to recuperate the energy spent doing the salutations, and I felt great after every single yoga session with the two teachers! Suksma! There were also many cultural activities prepared by Madeyoshi and the Balitrees team. We met different villagers for the activities, and got the chance to learn more about Balinese culture/heritage/language from them. I particularly enjoyed the Balinese language class with Mr Wayan, a trip to the local shaman and coconut oil making :)! Thank you for working so hard to ensure that every guest got the chance to do what they wanted to do. Finally, the Balitrees staff were amazing beyond words! They took care of our every need and treated every guest with the most genuine of hearts. The home-cooked food was extremely delicious, the drivers were fun, and everyone was always open to having conversations with us. They are like a second family by the end of 5 days and I cannot wait to be back again. Adi, Rai, Dewi, Madeyoshi, Widi, Ayu, Lisna, Yulia, Male, Nang Pik, Tino and Nengah - Suksma pisan for being like Belis and Mboks!!!!

"Authentically Balinese with heart and soul"

I did the 1 week yoga teacher training and it was an amazing sand unforgettable experience. I learned many things that I will take home to my own practice and when I teach. The teachers are excellent and try to maintain a balance of discipline and fun. It is suitable for all levels.

The experience of Balitrees is truly authentic Balinese village life, unspoiled by commercialization or tourism. The homestays give you a taste of what it is to live in a village in the rice fields in the shadow of Mount Watukaru. I stayed at Bali Red Roses, which was the closest homestay to the main retreat area (5 minute walk) and my host Wayan was one of the most hospitable, generous people I have ever met. Every morning he brought a light breakfast of Balinese cake ans tea of coffee and the offer to walk to watch the sunrise. He also gave lessons in Balinese language and rice farming.

You have a choice of activities twice a day, from massage to visiting the local shaman to learning how to make coconut oil and many others. This is how Balitrees provides a true immersion into the village lifestyle and what makes it extra special.

If you’re looking for a 5 star luxury resort that caters to your every western need, this is not the place for you. But if you’re ok with spartan living and bending your expectations in exchange for a taste of the true rural life of the region, you will love Balitrees. The place has so much heart and soul. I will never forget my time there.

"An idyllic yoga experience"

It was so wonderful to experience a spiritual and unique yoga retreat in such a beautiful location. The team are so friendly and welcoming and it was fantastic to see how balitrees involves the local community. They have a clear ethical and moral vision for this enterprise. I thoroughly enjoyed the blissful yoga sessions as well as the wide range of activities on offer. It was an amazing insight into balinese culture and tradition. Furthermore, the location of the reatreat is stunning. It was truly magical to practise yoga overlooking the tranquil rolling hills of the rice paddies and the mountains of the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this yoga retreat and would love to return and do it again myself!

The teacher was great, so was all the people working there. So lovely and helpful, smiling and kind. Beautiful souls. The location and the accomadation was also great. An amazing and interesting experience.I also loved all the different activities that we could choose from. Bycycling, waterfall, the spa, visit to two temples, visit to a shaman, and to a healer, just to name a few. Also all the lovely people we met from all over the world. The teacher training was both fun and interesting. All in all a wonderful and unique place that I highly recommand.

"Unique, peaceful experience"

I spent three nights at the Balitrees retreat in a homestay. It was lovely! Balinese yoga is much more focused on the spiritual, so there was a lot of seated meditation during the two-hour yoga classes, twice a day. I have a back bad so that part was painful for me, and I would have liked to be eased in to longer meditations as a newbie, but I appreciated learning so much about this ancient yoga style, even as an amateur yoga practitioner. I loved learning the sun and moon solutions (different than I've learned to do in the US) so much so that I plan to do them each morning at home :)

I also enjoyed all of the extra activities--your days are busy and you learn so much about Balinese culture. Located in a quiet village, I enjoyed walking each morning from my homestay (15 minutes) but the staff provide transportation (car or scooter) to take you to and from if you choose. The other visitors and staff were all so wonderful and friendly.

The 5 days I spent at this yoga-retreat has been truly amazing, rewarding, peaceful and fun. I came here to learn more about how to practice yoga by myself and after this retreat I can say that I will definitely start doing it on my own at home. The yoga was great, it felt authentic and personal, easy to follow and I found it good for beginners but there was also more experienced people in the class. The location was beautiful with ricefield views and away from the crowd which was perfect. Apart from the yoga there was also plenty of other activities to choose from and I had so much fun learning ricefarming, we got to meet a farmer and try ricefarming ourselves which was an unforgettable experience! Also visited a local waterfall, where we could swim and was so much fun. Met a lot of great people too from all over world which made the stay better. And everyone working at the retreat is so nice, helpful and willing to assist with anything you need. I had so much fun and in the end I wished I stayed longer than 5 days. I hope I can come back one day. Big thank you to Dewi, Mede, Adi and everyone else for organising this amazing and wonderful retreat, I am so happy I got to go there and recommend it to everyone who wants a yoga away from the crowd and a balinese cultural experience!

My sister and myself did the 3 day yoga retreat here and we found it most relaxing and very interesting. As it was our first time in Bali we found that this yoga camp diffinately exceeded our expectations of what real bali is like. We enjoyed everything from the yoga, the food, the extra activities and the home stay. We would 100% recommend especially if you want a relaxing and cultural experience and see everything first hand. It was also lovely to meet different people from all around the world and hear their stories. ☺️

Amazing cultural experience with such accommodating hosts. A peaceful venue away from the hustle and bustle of tourist trap areas. "Bonita experiencia!! "

"A little shot of bliss!"

A wonderful start to our Bali holiday. Made and his friendly staff could not have been more helpful, driving us everywhere we wanted to go. We enjoyed the experience of staying at a homestay the first night but happily moved to Balitrees when a room became available and the accommodation there was excellent.

The food was good. Loved the fresh veggies at every meal and the fruit in particular. Breakfast was perfect each day.

I knew I would struggle with the yoga a little as I have some joint problems, but Krishna let me work at my own level. I found the class easy to follow and exercising and meditating surrounded by spectacular rice fields was very special.

The interaction with the local villagers during the activities made this a unique experience. It’s humbling to observe their lives and see how happy and welcoming they are and good to know that Balitrees is helping them.

"Discovering the heart of Bali"

I loved the whole experience - the two yoga sessions per day were great with the morning more physical and the afternoon exploring the spiritual side a bit more. The village activities give a fascinating insight into the Balinese way of life. The instructors were wonderful and clearly really keen to share their knowledge and ideals. All the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I also really liked meeting different people as guests came and went - a much more interesting dynamic than set start and finish dates. All in all a truly amazing authentic experience. However, if you are looking for a luxury relaxing retreat this is probably not the right one for you, it’s pretty intense and a little basic.

"Authentic people, location, and training"

Sesandan village has an incredible community that is deeply connected to Balitrees itself. What Adi has done with his home is inspiring and filled with love which you can see from all

the staff to the youth that are in training close by. This is mostly a yoga retreat but if requested you can receive Silat training from the incredible Gede. He is full of life, incredibly positive, and so much fun to learn from. I was there for one week and alternated between yoga and silat classes during the day, ate incredible Balinese food, hung out with the locals, went to a ceremony at the temple, swam in the local untouched waterfall, and attempted to use my limited vocabulary of Balinese. I will be coming back and sending anyone that comes to Bali straight here!

1) location is excellent - calm and nice atmosphere

2) people - community concept is amazing and the whole community is very warm and welcoming

3) focus on yoga - yoga is taught as a holistic concept also and not just as an exercise.

4) Not commercial - less number of people in the retreat makes it very good. There is individual focus and I hope this place maintains its originality and not lose it to commercial purposes

5) Activities - village activities are interesting engagement

"An Amazing Experience!"

This retreat is unique! It not only offers yoga and meditation but very unusual experiences (like for example the visit of a local healer or coconut oil making) since it involves locals from the surrounding in the daily activities which are offered to the quests.

The concept of this retreat is very convincing and well put into place and is the best I ever encountered during my 11 years living in Indonesia since now. In addition, the surrounding is stunning and far away from all the Bali tourism circus things ! Congratuation to the organizers and the extraordinary charming community around Balitrees! To keep this unique quality I wish this retreat won´t expand too much in the upcoming years. Stay small, so you will stay unique!

I loved the authentic cultural experience offered and how many different people in the village contributed to the education and activities of the retreat. My favorite was the rice farming! My daughter and I had amazing five days in Balitrees Retreat with two yoga sessions per day (at 9.30am and 3pm) under the supervision of friendly Balinese trainers who speak English well. In addition to the yoga sessions, guests were entertained with various interesting daily local activities.

Balitrees Yoga Retreat is established and managed by the local community in Sesandan village - Tabanan Bali. Their warm, friendly and service oriented attitude is amazing. They took care of the guests professionally, but at the same time they also gave the feelings that they were family. The facilities are relatively simple but comfortable (clean room, good bathroom, AC, hot water, free wifi etc) I highly appreciate this great local efforts!

The style taught is called Balinese Watukaru Yoga and Meditation. This focuses on practicing original flows such as the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskara) and Moon Salutation (Candra Namaskara). The main goal in practicing these flows - not only do the fancy poses or Asanas - is to awakening the seven Chakras in our body. The beauty and serenity of the surrounding really helped us to fully enjoy practicing the spiritual yoga.

For me, Balitrees was a definite highlight of my time in Indonesia. It was a breath of fresh air from the buzz of cities and cars. I deeply appreciated that this retreat was ran by the community and for the community. "Amazing experience "

This was an amazing experience for my first time in Bali and I highly recommend it to everyone who is considering doing a yoga and meditation retreat in Bali. The staff at Balitrees is wonderful, incredibly warm and welcoming. If you are not a big yogi, don’t be intimidated! The yoga really focuses on opening your chakras, so you’re not expected to do any crazy strength moves. However if you are more experienced, the instructors can guide you through different ways to challenge yourself. The activities give really great insight into the Balinese culture and were really fun to experience! I can’t emphasize how amazing the staff, the villagers and the other guests were. You won’t regret spending time at Balitrees.

"The perfect escape!"

I stayed 3 days and 2 nights. And from the moment I got picked up to the second the dropped me off again I felt welcomed. Everyone at Balitrees is so nice and helpful! The food was delicious and more than enough. The accommodation was definitely not luxurious, but since you spend most of your day at the camp anyways, it really doesn't matter. Besides, the people in the village that host the guest are so lovely. The yoga itself is something special, as its not the typical "fitness" yoga, but goes deeper on a spiritual level. The camp owners explain the culture of Bali and the village and also the meaning behind yoga. I just really enjoyed my time there and would love to come back and stay way longer!

"A Peaceful spot among nature"

How to start?! We had such a ball at Balitrees! Missing it already. We wanted to go in a yoga retreat which was not commercialized and we could not have found any better. Balitress is situated in a middle of ricefields, coconut trees and beautiful nature. It is a simple, relaxing and peaceful place. Strongly Recommend!

There is no restaurants or shops nearby. The 2 activities per day plus 4hs of yoga keep you busy. If you are an early bird, the sunrise (prob 0.5 to 1km walk from yoga place) is beautiful - just ask them how to get there. Not much to do at night, take a book with ya.

The community there is great, a lot of people are involved with Balitrees somehow. If you are unsure about anything just ask Adi or Dewi(she is on site most of the time). They are also very flexible if you have any suggestions or recommendations - dont be afraid to ask! They will try the best to make your holiday/retreat to be the best!

Accommodation: It can be a bit confusing on the website, but they have 2 types: Guest house - which is on site, where the yoga and activities happen. Homestay: you have your own room in someone's house, which can be nearby or a few kms away.

Yoga: they follow a "type" of yoga,as beginners you basically learn about 2 flows, plus meditations and stretching. They teach you about chakras and what is about.

We stayed there 5 days. I believe for us it was right amount of time... there are a lot of interesting activities and we got to do most of them. Ah, take insect repellent

"Lovely, peaceful four day day retreat"

My yoga teacher, although I didn't get her name, was wonderful. She was very positive and encouraging with all of us no matter what our ability was. Each session we would build on the previous ones and in just four short days I made so much progress and conquered headstands, advanced crow and some other positions. Beginners went from not being able to cross their legs to being able to.

The whole set up of Balitrees involves the entire village. One person does the music class, another does the coconut oil, another the massage, they all help build a 'selfie spot' and run the home stays, and they have monthly meeetings to decide on what to do next. I think it's ~10% maybe more that goes directly to the village and it's great to know that you're helping the whole community.

The setting is idyllic. The yoga hut faces gorgeous rice terraces, much more beautiful than tegallang, and the sunrises and sunsets are stunning. There aren't any other tourists in sight and the whole place has a very welcoming feel.

"Nice yoga experience in a wonderful place"

This is such a wonderful place to be and the people are so great! If you just want to be close to nature, do some typical Balinese activities or join in yogaclass, all of that is possible.

The yoga is so much fun too, while you may also discover that some 'impossible' postures áre possible with a little help.

"Top location and yoga / martial arts teachers"

I really enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the activities. It was also great to always opt in for a massage. I enjoyed the yoga and meditation / martial arts sessions most because the teachers were very competent but still not too serious sometimes - so we had a good laugh from time to time :)

A recommendation regarding activities: it would be amazing to hike up the mountain one day!

"Paradise where the time stops in every way"

Balitrees truly is a very paradisy place. You'll get "sucked" into the peacefulness in no time. What is better than start your day with slow yoga and meditation with hilarious view of the rice fields and palm trees. The food is extremely delicious and the people working there very lovely. Besides yoga, you can chose each day two activities to do, or just go for a massage or whatever your heart wants, because Dewi & Adi will try to arrange for you everything! It's amazing how they can make almost anything happen. :) That being told, the whole atmosphere is a very relaxed & flexible chaos. Don't expect a schedule or even to have an idea what and when is exactly going to happen. Especially if you live in one of the accommodations that are further away, it could be a bit frustrating that you didn't know you should prepare your bag for the whole day... It's also quite confusing, that different accommodations go under different retreats just for you to find out, that it's all the same (totally unnecessary). Some of our group would have booked a different accommodation if we knew in the first place, because for example the place where the massages are is magical. Also important to know - sometimes you eat at Balitrees and sometimes in your other accommodation so you don't stay with the group... But go experience for yourself, its worth it :)

"Perfect getaway"

This retreat was everything I hoped it would be and more. I loved that this place is non-commercialized, so you really get to immerse in the culture and take part in activities around the village. It was great to learn about the traditional Balinese yoga, not just the "modern yoga" that most of us are used to doing. Halfway through some of the yoga classes, we got an option to do traditional martial arts (silat), which was so much fun. The staff and the people in the village are all so wonderful and accommodating - they definitely made my stay all the more enjoyable.

"I really enjoyed! "

The people here work so hard, and by the end of 5 days felt like family! The yoga is taught in a way that makes it possible and encourages you to continue the practice on your own once you leave, which is amazing because now I feel more confident to practice on my own! The activities and location are a plus, because the view is beautiful, and I reiterate the people who work here and live in the village are so welcoming and amazing, I highly recommend if you want a deeper immersion into Balinese culture!

"Excellent Yoga Retreat"

My stay in Balitrees has been nothing but a bliss. The area is a remote area and that’s what I needed! The staff there are wonderful, very friendly, and cater to your every needs with a smile on their face always! Great food that are always ready from breakfast to lunch, then dinner. This is a small business where you will actually interact with a very polite business owner. They do have activities planned daily for those who would want to experience their lifestyles and what they have to offer. Otherwise, if you want just serenity and relaxation: yoga, waterfalls, and massage (traditional and regular/modern) are all you need. My suggestion: it will be best to interact with the staff and your fellow retreaters. This is a great spiritual retreat and also a great deal! I highly recommend it to everyone! And please don’t forget to tip them for their great service. It is not required, but I feel it’s the polite thing to do when someone treat you very nice.

"Yoga in paradise"

I came with my friend and college to attend the teachertraining. We are both dancers so we know a thing or so about movement. But we were very surprised to find a form of yoga that is so pure. It has had allmost no adjustments over time (sinds 451 AD) and is therefore very different from the most modern styles of yoga we knew sofar.

It was inspiring and although the class had also beginners as more advanced students, everyone could benefit from the classes. Krishna our teacher was very patient and knowledgeble. She aswered every question with great patience. We've learned in just a few days so much more than we had expected. And if you're interested it's also possible to attend the extra martial arts classes.

Besides the classes Balitrees also tries to make the whole village benefit from the students/tourists that are coming. Students sleep in places with the locals, food is prepaired by them and they provide all kinds of activities in the village, such as coconut oil making workshops, a small ricefield expedition etc.

And on top of all this, the school is located in an absolutely astonishing environment as is quiet rare nowadays in Bali.

It is definitely a wonderful place to do yoga, relax, learn more and meet wonderful people from all over the world.

"Genuine Bali Yoga experience"

I spent 3 days in the Balitrees retreat, and enjoyed it very much. After several days of tourist activities in Bali, this place offered what I really needed - authentic Bali experience. Beautiful nature (retreat was in the middle of rice fields and jungle, forget the tourist places, this is the real deal), wonderful local people who took great care of us all and tried to meet all of our needs (huge thanks especially to Made), real Indonesian food made with love and so on, all the extra "cultural activities", such as Silat marital arts training, Balinese music class, making of an offering etc. I especially enjoyed staying in a village house, and visit to the local healer who offered traditional Balinese massage.

I'm not much of a Yoga expert, but I think we practiced very solid yoga, for about 4 hours per day, including stretching, asanas, chanting, meditations, working with mudras... it came across as genuine and unspoiled Balinese Yoga.

I loved everything about Balitrees. The location in the middle of the rice plantations is just beautiful. It helps you relax. The food is fresh and delicious. My room was cleaned. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They will help you in every way that they can. The yoga classes are great and are adapted. If you want you can go further and learn new and more difficult positions. There are also a large variety of activities to choose from, and they are all interesting. You can truly discover the Balinese culture. Well, I recommend you to go to Balitrees. If you love yoga, the nature, and discovering a new culture, this is absolutely for you!

"Much more than just a yoga retreat ♥"

The experience is way more than what I expected! I felt lucky to be there. I came to the retreat location in awe of the beautiful view over the rice paddy - it was a much needed break from city life and the touristy side of Bali. It was like the locals let us into their lives, instead of a commercialized performance of the same as in, say, Ubud.

The atmosphere of the yoga sessions is at times fun and at times serene. The instructor, Ms. Krishna, pushes us to try and improve on poses. She gave tips for our at-home practices and individual attention to work through poses we struggle with. Four hours of yoga a day is not easy, but it pays off!

The staff was helpful and always nice. We were well taken care of and well fed. The food was fresh and delicious. The chef was accommodating with food allergies other guests have.

The cultural activities are a massive plus! Our schedule was filled with different things to do each day, like going to the waterfalls, Balinese cooking lessons, language lessons, rice planting, offering making, etc. I felt lucky to participate in the village activities, which would probably have costed a fortune elsewhere. I seriously recommend this retreat for travelers and yogis who want to experience a more authentic side of Bali.

"Unique and Unforgettable!"

I was so amazed and touched by the warmest welcome from the Balitrees team & the Sesandan villagers. Practicing yoga & meditation overlooking the stunning rice terrace was so relaxing. I went for an early morning walk in the village on my own, the villagers all greeted with the most beautiful smiles, except for the dogs (they bark and run after you when you walk near their home).

This was more than a yoga retreat; the local Balianese cultural experience was truly priceless. We were lucky enough to participate the Odalam (bi-yearly temple ceremony in the village), everyone including us were dressed in traditional Balianese costumes, the ceremony was just beautiful and spiritual!

It was very funny that one day when we were on our way to see local healer Guru Ketut, the car tile went flat. Adi showed up right away and sent 4 local teenagers to take us there with their motorbikes. I also enjoyed the Balianese language lesson with Wayan and to see sunrise with Made.

I felt truly blessed everyday: surrounded by warm-hearted local people, stunning nature, delicious food, unique Balianese village experience & some interesting guests! Suksema Balitrees & Baligreen for all the wonderful memories. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and hope this place stays the way it is.

"Amazing experience - loved every moment"

Really grateful to the whole team at Balitrees for such an unforgettable experience. Each yoga retreat group is small (<15 people), so you can benefit from individual time with the yoga instructor. You don’t need to be super fit to go...I’ve done 5 yoga classes in my life and I was able to keep up. For those who are more advanced, they can cater the sessions to your needs (eg yoga teacher cert).

There are optional cultural activities provided after the yoga sessions. I haven’t had the chance to experience all of them, but do ask for the waterfall, coconut oil making, sunrise, and rice field farming activities. They were some of the highlights of my Bali trip. Imagine walking on the ridge between rice terraces and learning how to plant rice - it was just heaven.

Food was amazing. Some of the best meals I’ve ever had. I’ll remember those fried mushrooms forever.

The location in Sirsandan is gorgeous - the yoga shala is set on a hill overlooking rice field terraces that take your breath away. The surrounding areas are filled with cacao, rambutan, banana, guava, and coconut trees, and if you ask nicely the staff are happy to pick one off the tree and let you have a taste.

Lasty the staff are all second to none. This is largely a family run business with local community involvement, and the care and attention that everyone puts in Balitrees just shines through in excellent, reliable, and flexible staff who will try to accomodate everyone’s wishes.

Much love,

The location is absolutely stunning. The greenest rice fields and highest coconut trees, surrounded by sounds of nature at night time. Every where you go you will be greeted by the locals with the biggest smiles and be made fell so welcome. It was a beginners retreat, so not too intense, with some more advance Yogis but our instructor made it enjoyable for all. A laugh was had at each class! I spent my Birthday here and when we returned from the Temple that evening the staff surprised me with a birthday cake! The hospitality was of the highest quality! I'd definitely recommend Balitrees!

"The most amazing experience!"

This yoga and meditation retreat exceeded all my expectations and

more. The yoga classes twice a day were great, thorough and varied and they were suitable for total beginners through to advanced. The wonderful instructor Krishna, always has a smile on her face and is happy to help with techniques, advice and always gives different options to make positions/poses accessible to all abilities. The meditation was always a wonderfully relaxing way to end our sessions and I can't imagine a more idyllic place to do this- surrounded by beautiful rice fields and the sounds of nature.

The staff at Balitrees can't do enough for you. They are genuinely some of the warmest, most caring people I've had the pleasure of meeting. Our days were filled with interesting and varied activities from cultural trips, to massages, tai chi on the beach to rice farming, Balinese music and language lessons, a visit to the local shaman and more. Best of all, they are all free which for the price and authenticity is absolutely astounding! Any suggestions you had they tried their best to accommodate such as putting on a Balinese cooking class, taking us to the waterfall and organising a trip to Tanah Lot temple where we received blessings in the sea! The highlight for me was getting to attend a traditional Balinese wedding in the village. We were provided with appropriate clothing and welcomed into the celebration with truly open arms. It's a once in a lifetime experience that I'll never forget.

Fully immersed in those lush rice fields where all you can hear are the crickets and Kirshna chanting. The walk to the yoga is bliss, you have to take your time just so you can drink it all in. The yoga is traditional and modern which is a great way for people to understand what yoga is really about instead of treating it like a sport. Food is delicious and everyone are so welcoming, you can make this time whatever you need it to be for yourself. My stay was very short but nevertheless unforgettable. The retreat is set on top of the hill, surrounded by rice paddies near small village with warm and smiley locals. The view is breathtaking and the nature is so beautiful and intact it brings tears to your eyes. Adi and his brother are the warmest and nicest persons, just like Arta and other staff working there. They do everything to make you feel good and adjust the activities according to your wishes. The meals are very tasty and light at the same time, very often accompanied by freshly picked coconut. Overall, the experence certainly exceeded all my expectations. I recommend it to everyone who wants to try living like a true Balinese, learning their traditional yoga and meditation, and getting to know their culture. The experience at Balitrees was fantastic, I was picked up from the airport at mid-night and I felt very safe and comfortable straight away as this was the first time I was travelling solo. I had the pleasure of experiencing the home accommodation as well as the on site accommodation and both are perfectly fine, the rooms were cleaned and spacious and very comfortable to relax and rest. "Yoga in the most beautiful and peaceful surroundings"

I had a wonderful 7 days stay at Balitree i February. The retreat is surrounded by rice fields, which makes it an incredible palace to do yoga. In spite of being there in the rainy season, it just made the yoga sessions even more intense, doing yoga looking the rice fields and listening to the heavy rain.

Adi, Krishna, Dewi, Made, Ray and all the other wonderful people being a part of Balitree are doing everything possible, to make your stay nice, and this makes you feel very welcome.

Balitree is not big, but exactly the size this makes the place very special and recommendable. This is an incredible place to meet the nicest persons - both Balinese and people from all over the world. Don’t hesitate - go there if you can, you won’t regret it.

"An unforgettable stay at Balitrees Retreats!"

We didn't know what to expect when we signed up for Balitrees Retreats yoga retreat. We just knew we wanted to start our trip with a few days of yoga and a reset from our lives. We were blown away by the place, the people, the food, the activities.

Neither of us had much experience with yoga but totally fell in love with. Krishna was an incredible teacher and taught us a lot about the health and spiritual benefits of yoga. She was also very kind and patient. We loved her!

The location is stunning! Our food was served under a canopy right by the rolling rice paddy fields. We would never have had the opportunity to come to this part of Bali without this.

We felt very fortunate to be able to visit the village shaman and village healer. The healer put my boyfriend's hip back in its place after he'd been having months of trouble with it.

All the food is traditional and cooked there. Each meal was delicious!

We were so sad to leave Balitrees and we're already planning our next trip back! We will be recommending it to anyone who's coming to Bali.

The food was great. I told them I was vegan before I arrived and all the meals had a vegan options which was delicious. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and are always on hand to help you with any problems. Absolutely lovely.

The activities were well planned and the location is beautiful. The yoga classes themselves were fun and not too difficult, also different options were given for different abilities.

Really enjoyed my time at balitrees.

"The perfect start for my Bali adventure"

I originally booked 5 days, but already after a day or two realized that I wanted to stay longer. I extended my stay and also took the exam for the teaching certificate.

I enjoyed every single second there. The area, the food, yoga, people. Would definitely recommend for anyone. No shops, no tourists, very relaxing. Everywhere you look is green and beautiful.

I met a lot of the friendly people of sesandan village and there where a lot of activities all day long.

I hope they keep it small and intimate, as that's what made the experience perfect.

Thanks and hope to see you again som time :)

"Empfehlenswert"

"Relaxing, educational and cultural!"

First off, the location is gorgeous - waking up to lush green rice paddies everyday was a treat! The yoga was unlike any of the (few) classes I had done back home in England. Mrs krisna was patient and thorough, especially with my boyfriend who had never ever done yoga before. His posture and flexibility has improved so much in just the few days we were there. The activities were all really fun, we loved the masked dance the villagers put on for us and learning the traditional Balinese instruments. The village treks were gentle and the locals were so friendly and welcoming - the dogs too (love you nico). It was so nice to be invited to the temple ceremony and learn about Balinese culture. The food was delicious and different everyday! Can’t give Balitrees and the staff enough praise, it was the absolute highlight of our three months traveling Asia.

"The real Bali"

Balitrees was the perfect get away from the touristy areas of Bali. Most destinations in Bali have lost their original culture and here you can find it. From staying in a small village on a rice farm, to eating authentic Balinese cuisine, to visiting the local sites, shaman and energy healer only known by locals. No only do you get this cultural experience but the yoga is also Balinese form which gets your mind in the proper form to relax and energize your inner being. It’s beginner to intermediate level and satisfying for any level of yogi.

Your days can be full of yoga and activities or you may choose to rest and read by the rice fields or take a scenic walk down the country roads.

I only wish I stayed longer...I was there a short 2.5 days but many stayed a week or longer. You can even earn a level 1 certificate in one week with their intensive yoga course.

You will certainly connect with the wonderfully warm staff there to serve you, guide you and provide the support you need for your stay.

I will definitely be going back.

"Much more than a yoga retreat"

Super-friendly and family-like atmosphere at Balitrees Retreats located in the Balinese country-side. Apart from twice-daily yoga classes (style: traditional Balinese hatha yoga) held by lovely Mrs. Krishna, there were lots of additional activities to choose from every day: Went for a yoga class on the black-sand beach, learned how to make some yummy local dishes, learned about cultivating rice, made some offerings (flower arrangements for the gods), visited a local healer etc. A beautiful and relaxing set-up overall - everything was run very smoothly from the moment of pick-up from the airport to leaving Bali. Definitely recommended!

The setting was amazing and we felt emerged in the local culture. The meals were simple but delicious local cuisine. "A unique non-commercial Balinese healing paradise"

Situated on the edges of a lush jungle far from the bustling city life this charming ’’secret garden’’ will undoubtedly offer peace and tranquillity whilst enjoying the breath taking views of picturesque rice fields and being amongst genuinely warm- hearted villagers who can teach you the roots of Balinese yoga.

Perfect for the sole travellers. If you come here alone, you will definitely come out making dear friendships with special like-minded people.

Although you will not find luxury here you will enjoy the beauty of unspoilt nature ruined only by the random sounds of cicadas and geckos accompanied by the gentle breeze of mild Balinese hills.

Our lovely hostesses Rhianna and Dewi will prepare the most delicious light meals using fresh coconuts from nearby trees with no processed food; young Ray will be able to give you free lifts to the waterfall or a close by beach to do yoga.

Moreover, lovely villagers will always greet you and invite you to their ceremonies like dancing in masks or worshipping the Gods.

Although this village lacks the glamour of Ubud yoga centres, I am certain to say that its authenticity as well as tranquillity are not to be replaceable by any 5 star hotel.

In such a short time I was able to learn so much from these kind and unique people in this little Indonesian paradise and most importantly I will be able to share my experience with like- minded people.

This whole experience is definitely the beginning of your healing journey!

"Genuine cultural experience "

The retreat was well organised, I was greeted by Ray one of the team members in an agreed location in Tabanan.

Is was moved to accommodation close to the yoga studio. It was in the middle of a beautiful rice field in a very peaceful location.

All meals provided where delicious local Balinese food made by the lovely Rhiana and Dewi who looked after me very well.

Another retreat member was at another location, I went to her accommodation D'umadhatu and had an equally delicious meal there too.

The yoga classes where provided by Kutut and Adi who shared their great skills in yoga and meditation.

In the evenings we where kept busy by meeting local villagers who kindly invited us into their homes to share their cultural experiences with us.

We also went on trips around the local area, paid our own entrance fees which was completely reasonable.

I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to see a part of Bali relatively untouched to tourism. It does have the glamour of yoga studios in Ubud, but it does have a feeling of warmth and community spirit which is endearing.

"My best authentic Bali experience !"

It were great 5 days I spent at Balitrees. The whole crew is just too lovely and the group of fellow „Yogis“ was amazing, too.

There were so many activities, I don‘t even know where to begin. Just to name a few favouritve memories, there was a bicycle tour to the beach with an amazing sunset, visiting many villagers, some of them showed us how they make coconut oil, we cooked delicious pastery, tried the handicraft of making offerings, had the chance to try Gamelan... just amazing experiences !

Twice a day there were Yoga and Meditation classes, which were very interesting.

The food was very good, you won‘t be hungry, three big meals a day !

The housing was beautiful and sourrounded by beautiful garden and landscape, too.

All in all, it was just a perfect experience I can highly recommend.

I loved to finally get out of the tourist areas and see Bali for real. In the little village everyone was so kind to us and knew Mr Adi's retreat.

Suksuma ?

"Unforgettable experience"

I just spent 5 unforgettable days at Balitrees retreats in magnificent Sesandan village. I will never forget this incredible experience : living with the inhabitants and enjoying traditional activities with them, doing Balinese meditation and yoga (very traditional, not western adapted at all) and learning the process of rice cultivation. I don't think you can find that kind of enlightening retreats easily! I really recommend it to anybody who would be interested in a real body and mind healing. Thank you Adi, his team and the whole village!

"Unbelievable Retreat in a Beautiful Setting"

There's really nothing to dislike about a Balitrees retreat! The staff alone make this a truly incredible and unbelievable experience. Not only is Adi and excellent host, but his staff, Dewi and Rhianna, make sure that your every need is attended to- from the daily activities they help to coordinate to the delicious meals they serve. Everyone at Balitrees (including the neighbors!) is warmly welcoming and make you feel 100% at home from the moment you arrive.

The location is another major plus. Balitrees is set in a quaint, traditional Balinese village where you'll be welcomed to participate in the daily life there. The yoga pavilion overlooks lush rice terraces, which is a wonderfully peaceful place to practice.

Balitrees has an inclusive vibe and is in no means a yoga "bootcamp". Participants of all skill level, even first timers, will feel comfortable there at they tailor the experience to your particular abilities and goals.

I strongly recommend attending a retreat at Balusters Retreats. I found it to be an incredibly restorative experience that far exceeded my expectations. I hope to return within the year!

Dewi and Rihanna feed you three delicious meals a day that they cook fresh and are so fun and friendly. "Amazing place in a small village"

I liked everything. The small village is so beatiful and all people are so lovely, funny and friendly. They do anyting to make sure you will enjoy your time. During the yoga sessions you can admire the view of rise fields. It is so peaceful there. I liked this balinese yoga very much and would recommend this especially for beginners, like I was. Mr. Adi will plan all kind of activities for day- and night time and you can take part of those if you want. I really recommend to do that because you will meet amazing people and get to know real balinese culture. Your accomodation is around the nature so nature might come into your room too, be prepared. But it is not too bad and it really shouldn't be a reason why not to go there. I had a 5 days yoga retreat and could've stay longer. One of the best things where I have spent money. This place really took a piece of my heart and exceeded my expectations. I definately will come back some day.

Alles was perfect. Alles gebeurt in overleg.

This place brought me back to life after a difficult half a year and many problems with my health. I did not want to leave and I'm already thinking of when I can come back. It's so much more than just yoga and meditation. You really emerge into Balinese culture and see it through the eyes of local villagers who are extremely friendly and hospitable. You can find peace and quiet here in what is considered one of the most touristy places on Earth - Bali. The nature surrounding you is gorgeous and definitely has its own role of settling peace inside you. People who I've met there are so kind and radiant and do everything possible to make your stay even more comfortable and relaxing. I stayed in Balitrees retreat for 5 nights. Adi is the organiser of the Retreat and his family and friends help with all the activities, food and yoga.

My experience in Balitrees was wonderful and I just wished I could have stayed longer.

With me there were a few more people which made the whole experience even better.

I improved my yoga skills but I could also learn a bit of Tai Chi with the beautiful surroundings of the rice fields.

Having a local Balinese experience was also one of the best things of the retreat. I did cooking classes, had a healing massage, learnt how to make offerings, did good walkings to know the area and see the temples of the village and also went to Tanah Lot temple.

The food was also delicious and traditional with options of vegetarian or not.

If you are looking for a slice of "real Bali", don't miss this beautiful place! The owner Adi gives you the chance to see into traditional Balinese Yoga and Meditation and also a little bit into Balinese Culture (like traditional balinese music and dance). The location is surrounded by rice fields and it's the perfect place to calm down and find peace. The people there are very heartwarming and after a couple of days

you will become part of the small village. You will get invited into neighbours houses for preparing meals (by the way: the food is very yummi) , making Hindu offerings or just for having a chat...

"Find Your Center at Balitrees Retreats"

Balitrees Retreats was hands down the most serene experience I have ever had. It surpassed all of my expectations tenfold. Looking around at all of the splendor surrounding me during my first yoga and mediation session I asked myself if I had stumbled into heaven by mistake. Rice terraces, butterflies and sunshine; this place is truly paradise.

The only tourists in the village are the ones staying at the retreat so you really have the opportunity to submerge yourself in culture and relaxation. The daily village activities are very enriching and provide an authentic look into the village life of Sesandan and the Balinese way. The food was tasty and there was always plenty of it, I once asked for some coconut juice and someone kindly climbed a tree and plucked a fresh coconut for me to drink-it was delicious!

Mr. Adi and his team were very accommodating throughout my entire stay there. I am very much looking forward to my return and highly recommend anyone looking for relaxation in Bali to experience this.

"Great Retreat with Lovely People"

A different style of yoga and a great introduction to meditation and a variety of Balinese cultural activities; all in a serene setting. Adi and his staff were very welcoming and hospitable; especially going over and above to provide transport to/from the retreat and for any alternative day trips. I was humbled by the warmth and connection between local community members in their joined efforts to make visitors welcome and also in their day to day lives. Such a refreshing change compared to many other cultures!

"Best experience I have had on Bali"

Escape your every day stresses and come to the lovely village of Sesandan Megati in Tabanan. The Balitrees meditation and yoga experience is magical, as you will be in a truly beautiful and inspiring environment, surrounded by positive people and the kind - always smiling - people of Sesandan.

Adi and his staff do an excellent job of creating the best possible experience for you. Every day you will be presented with new opportunities to grow in meditation, yoga, to learn from Hindu culture should you wish, and to engage with the local community at Sesandan.

The programme is flexible, and tailored to the individual needs and wants of its participants. Your happiness and satisfaction is the staff's #1 priority - I felt very appreciated and taken care of during my stay. They really go above and beyond to help you. I am very happy with the warmth and pure joy and kindness of every staff member and I can honestly say I've experienced the customer experience has been one of the best I've ever had so far.

Besides getting better at yoga and meditation, a very unique aspect of this programme is the opportunity to see the real Balinese life. The people of Sesandan are extremely welcoming - a genuine kindness that you could never dream of in touristic places like Kuta or Ubud. The Sesandan community wants to welcome travellers from all walks of life and backgrounds, and will be here to give you a warm welcome.

Don't wait and start discovering this hidden gem in Bali ASAP!

"quite and authentic village life"

In this place, you rest and they take care of everything. You live in the village. You practice yoga and meditation twice a day. Adi arranges activities like trekking after the practice. Sometimes you have chance to attend a village event like a wedding. Food is simple and authentic.

"Perfect place for yoga and learning about balinese life"

I met a lot of great balinese people in Balitrees and Sesandan village, also made friends with other tourist coming to the reatreat. Apart from yoga we made a lot of nice activities like music class, making coconut oil, hindu offerings, cooking, ceremonies, kite festival, visited traditional healer . The place is very beautiful surrounded by rice terraces. It is very relaxing and peacful and I like how the retreat is organized! You have a lot of activies every day ! Ketut and Adi are great yoga instructors, they teach more spiritual yoga than in some western resorts. And the weather is not so hot as at the beach, just perfect for practicing yoga and walk around.

"One of my most memorable travel experiences yet!"

If you’re looking for a family away from home, a place to meet kindred spirits, experience authentic Balinese culture or somewhere to strengthen your yoga and spiritual practices - then this is the place for you.

The wonderful people of this village will invite you into their homes, share their amazing stories and ultimately go out of their way to make sure you’re enjoying your stay.

There is something truly unique, genuine and magical about Balitrees and I would encourage anyone looking to reconnect with themselves and other likeminded people to stay here.

Thank you so much for everything, I can't imagine it will be too long before I visit again :)

"Perfect"

"It is beyond a yoga retreat"

1st thing is the people. From the moment I arrived at the airport, Rai and DeDe took good care of me. They even prepared cold drink and welcome snack for me in the car. As it has past lunch hour in the retreat, they brought me to a small "warung" to have lunch. The nasi goreng was yummy and I really like the drink that they specially ordered for me "Deluman", which is a type of jelly made from a type of leave.

All the other staff that I met in the resort were also super friendly and helpful, Dewi, Lyana, Ayu.... and everyone in the village. I also miss my little friend Dodok, Dica, Aimi.... whom have made my stay in Balitree feel at home.

Food prepared by the retreat was always yummy and the portion is very generous. I also love the local coffee that they serve.

The yoga and meditation session. Ketut the instructor was very patient. She always explained every pose in details and shared the benefit. She is more excited than us to see our progress. I also like the meditation session by Adi. I find his session easier to follow as compared with some meditation that I have tried before.

The activities arranged for us were also amazing. We have visited a local primary school, got a great massage from a healer, attended coconut oil making session, visited local market, tracking in the village, fishing with the kids and got to participate in the once a year Kite Festival at Tanah Lot. All at no additional charge.

Welldone Adi and team! I will surely go back again!

"Peaceful and relaxing "

The location of the retreat is so ideal - after traveling to Ubud after the retreat I immediately missed the quiet of the village and the bungalow. The location for yoga was also perfect, an open aired bungalow overlooking the rice field. For those who are looking for a retreat away from the tourists and haggling of Ubud and other larger towns, this is perfect for you. The staff and people of the village are also so sweet - we loved getting to know Dewi and Rihanna and the rest of the people. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, the perfect place to relax. Also, the food was fabulous. There is enough variety each day that you never get tired of the food, in fact it's difficult to stop eating it.

"Yoga retreat went above-and-beyond expectations"

1. Being welcomed into the BaliTrees family: you get to know the villagers on a first name basis and they really look after you and care for you :)

2. If there were any issues, they were looked after in a speedy manner. For example, I experienced some PMS pains and cravings, so Adi's family members went out to the local town to get me pain killers and some chocolate. Amazing!

3. Learning about authentic Balinese yoga and Balinese culture - great to compare the style with my usual practice and to learn from kind, local Balinese people about their daily village life (making offerings, dancing, cooking, massage etc)

4. The food was amazing

5. Being surrounded by beautiful nature: coconut trees (the coconuts were delicious to drink from at lunch time!!), rice fields and fresh air

6. The communication between the host (Adi) and his helpful team was great. They ensured I knew where to go, where to be dropped off at etc.

"This place is frickin awesome! "

Absolutely loved this place! Could go on and on, but Ill try to make it short.

The location is wonderful, quiet on a hillside overlooking green ricefields. The staff is super nice and the food was delicious! I was a bit sceptical due to a review about the food, but I loved it! Adi arranged so we could participate in cooking lunch, which was good cause now I have recipes to use back home:)

The yoga was better than I thought. Really loved the sunset and moon salutations (even though I thought my back wouldnt), but you got into it really fast and I started to look forward to them. Great overall workout and fokus on meditation.

You have a wide range of activities to choose from as well, or you can just relax on the patio. Adi took us into town after a beach yoga session and bought us dinner, that was really nice!

I really really recommed going here!

"Bali bliss..."

The family feeling was the thing that I enjoyed the most! Everyone was so kind and helpful and I couldn't feel more welcome.. I really felt I.got.the chance to experience in some way Balinese culture and traditions even if my stay was not long enough.. The activities were very interesting plus Adi the owner always tried to.satisfy our requests. our.yoga teacher Ketut was so nice, and even if balinese yoga style is quite different from what I had practiced before I liked the different insight on the practice! And we experienced different ways to try and connect with our inner self, relax and begin our soul healing practice... And last but not least, going there by myself I was very lucky to share my stay with Sarah and Raman, two wonderful girls and adventure companions! ! I really spent a wonderful time, and brought back home wonderful memories.. Thank you very much! Ps They also bought a cake for me as a surprise for my birthday! Best birthday ever! I couldn't have asked for more! Thank you?

"Yoga in a small village in Bali - escape the crowds"

I had a wonderful time at Balitrees - this retreat was definitely a highlight of my trip to Bali. I can recommend this truly authentic experience to anyone who wants to learn about traditional balinese yoga in a quiet, peaceful and relaxing setting. You will meet the friendliest locals, who will teach you everything you want to know about their culture and traditions. When I did the retreat, we were only 5-8 guests and no other tourists around - what a wonderful experience. I already miss the home-cooked food and waking up surrounded by beautiful rice terraces.

"Paradise hidden in the middle of jungle "

Well I have to say it was big surprise !

While most of yoga retreats offering spa but not yoga for abnormal amount of money we decided to try out Bali tree .

From the first moment when we drive closer to area I knew it Was right choice. We have been in Bali for second time and I can confidently say That only in middle of the island ( and I don't speak about Ubud) u can feel real Balinese culture . This place lost in jungle and it is magic of it. U can see wonderful rice terraces without any single tourist around. You will feel as part of the community. I am disagreeing with previous comments saying it is for beginners ( if you seeking just sport it is not for you) It is just different! -Spiritual , deep, beneficial for body and soul. Also You can always push your body further if u willing to. Mr.Adi introduce us Thai Chi as he practices it for very long time. Apart of daily yoga and meditation classes there was lots of cultural activities what helps to understand Balinese culture better: dance, music , rice cultivation, Hindu ceremonies , coconut oil making, coffe farm, visit to healer . People speaks English and kindly willing to share everything with us.

It was priceless experience.

Thank you for amazing days with you . Mr. Adi and Ketut thank u for sharing your knowledge with us. I hope to be back one day. And learn more from you ?

"A true paradise, a must stay!!!"

Balitrees retreat:

Where do I start.....

Firstly balitrees is set within the most beautiful surroundings; rice paddies and palm trees galore this place is truly divine. what makes it better is the fact that it is set in a peaceful quiet village with no other tourism apart from this small retreat.

The owner Adi is a wonderful man who will go above and beyond to make your time with him truly memorable... this retreat has only been open for 3 months and you get a real feel of authenticity and realism.

You get to choose out of 3 accommodation, the main area, the homestay ( 10 minute walk away ) and the villas( 20 minute drive ) each of these suited to wether you want a more personal experience such as the homestay, the villas for a private experience and the main area to be close to the daily activity, food and main yoga!

The food is delicious, a wonderful set of traditional Balinese dishes are served each day, breakfast lunch and dinner all included within the package!! All filling and plentiful, you will eat these under a small beautiful bamboo open hut overlooking the rice terrace while sharing the experience with only a few lucky others( only up to 10 at one time) you also receive free water all the time( bottled) you are even provided with your own water bottle to use through your stay which adds a wonderful touch to the whole experience.

Also included in the very cheap retreat are local Balinese activities that happen more than once each day, these can range from the

The people ver very warm and welcoming. Nothing was a bother and they would bend over backwards to accommodate the needs of the guests.

Yoga lessons met my needs and were taught in a friendly and fun way accommodations the different levels of the students.

"Beyond Amazing "

I really can't recommend this experience enough! Set in the incredibly peaceful mountains of Bali and surrounded by terraced rice paddies, Balitrees offers an experience rather than a retreat. I have never felt more at home away from home than I did in the village. The scale of time just disappears as the slow pace of life there creates a relaxing environment away from the realities of modern life.

Adi's traditional knowledge of spiritual yoga and meditation is extensive and he is able to teach silat and tai chi too. The classes are aimed to provide an introduction and deep understanding of the practices and were perfect for beginners like me as Adi is incredibly patient and passionate about passing on his knowledge. (You can even sign up to study and take the yoga exam if you wish and have the time) Classes are a couple of hours each morning and afternoon and between classes Adi provides opportunities for you to visit various villagers and learn about their way of life. Food was absolutely delicious and not at all what I expected. Simple and slightly repetitive but with fantastic flavours, especially the spiced chicken! Not just vegetarian as previously advertised - when we said we ate meat it was generously provided!

"Best get away spot in bali with real cultural experience"

Away from the highly frequented tourist areas and in the middle of balis beautiful nature with its wide stunning range of colors, shapes and smells. This retreat offers a perfect combination of experiencing the balinese culture and getting a soft start into “ yoga land“. Nevertheless, advanced yogis get the chance to expand their knowledge and learn about “watukaru“- the traditional yoga, which has been developed in the mountain nearby.

Overall, it was an exceptionel experience and I am happy that 8 had the wonderful opportunity to experience the unique hindu- bali traditions first hand. All villagers were very kind and welcoming.

Also, food was better than what we had been served in restaurants. The staff was super caring and gave each guest individual service. Whatever you need, Adi and his community will take care of it even if its about other, personal concerns.

Best get away spot in Bali I'd stay!

"Perfect escape in a traditional Balinese village"

I had a wonderful experience at Balitrees. I didn't know what to expect as some of these 'cultural retreats' can seem a bit forced or overly cheesy! Not the case here. The people of Sedandan village were incredibly welcoming and genuinely pleased to have us there. Myself and the 2 other guests were even invited to a wedding...A wonderful experience although they insisted on stuffing us with too much food!!

Adi and his team continuously went out of their way to help us, from including a little bucket of toiletries in the bathroom to bringing us to the village healer. Whatever we wanted!! They were all so warm and kind, we were made to feel instantly at home!!

The classes were a bit different to what I'd expected but I actually loved them...It was refreshing to see a less exercise-focused and more spiritual approach to yoga. One of my favourite aspects was the moving meditation - like a form of Tai Chi - and I hope I can remember it now!! The schedule's pretty loose so you have time to explore the area if you don't want to get involved in activities.

Anyway, if you're looking for an authentic cultural experience with the kindest people, to learn something different in a beautiful setting and to make great friends, you've found it. Thanks Adi, Dewi, Mrs Ketut, Rihanna, Yulia, Yoshi, Rai and everyone there for making it such a special experience (and sorry for all the mis-spellings of the names!) I'll be back one day!!

"The real Bali"

If you would like to see the real Bali, practice yoga and recharge, then this is the retreat for you. We started each day with yummy snacks, meditation, sun salutations and tai chi. The day was filled with great simple, local, food and fantastic cultural experiences such as coconut oil making, music classes and cooking lessons. We finished the day with yoga, which was tailored to both experience and flexibility levels, and dinner. It was great to practice different types of yoga with different teachers.

I cannot describe how relaxing it is to sit outside meditating, feeling the sun on your back and listening to the cicadas, frogs and roosters. It was pure bliss.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They just wanted us to experience their village and way of life. They cannot do enough for you and they are great good company.

This retreat can only hold four people so it will not be overrun with tourists.

I loved my stay at Balitrees and will definitely return. It was by far the best part of my trip.

"Amazing, authentic Balinese experience"

The first thing you notice arriving at the retreat is how remote you feel among the beautiful rice terraces (that are better than Ubud in my opinion.) It's one of the most relaxing environments I've ever been in where you can disconnect from your fast-paced life and really reconnect with nature. It seems like there is no one around apart from the people who live in the village. A very non-touristy location where everyone you meet is warm & welcoming and the most beautiful views to go along with it all.

The early morning challenge of Tali Rasa quickly became my favorite time of the day but the other daily activities also really deliver. You get to sit with the local villagers and learn to make offerings in the traditional way, learn to play traditional Balinese instruments, afternoon yoga alongside the children's lessons (be it yoga, martial arts or dance lessons) and see the daily life of a village that hasn't been overrun by tourists and western civilization.

The accommodations were good; comfortable beds, showers with hot water, AC and wifi all made it easy to still get the comforts of home while indulging in this experience.

It happened to be my birthday during my stay and I was given a birthday party by the villagers/staff and their children. What a special day they provided for me! The girls put on a Balinese dance, everyone sang Happy Birthday (in Balinese) and they even got me a cake. :) I truly can't say enough good things about every person involved in Balitrees!

"A blissful retreat "

Adi and his family were wonderful hosts. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. Where do I start.

The setting of the retreat is in a very rural village. You couldn't get more remote if you tried. Rice terraces, coconut and banana trees. A tropical paradise. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The meals prepared were simple but extremely tasty. Fresh fruit was always on offer.

Meditation and Balinese Tai Chi class every morning. Perfect routines to clear your mind. The afternoon session were yoga focussed. All my instructors were excellent. They tailor the routines to suit my needs. My classes involved a lot of hamstring stretches and back bends. As only 4 guests can stay at one time you receive great personal tuition. I had a day of 1-2-1 classes.

You become a member of the family very quickly. Everyone is so friendly.

Cultural exchange. Everyday there is an opportunity to take part in a cultural activity. Watching the sunrise, oil making, preparing a Balinese meal, a session with the local medicine man, crafting offerings/blessings.

I enjoyed everything I did on the retreat. If you are looking for a relaxing few days, in a beautiful setting and a family environment look no further.

"Wonderful culture and yoga experience "

I booked a 4 nights yoga retreat at Balitrees. What I received was so much more than I hoped for :) Mr Adi ( the owner of the place) has been extremely welcoming and happy to share his knowledge about the balinese culture with me. I was the only one staying at this wonderful village. I already miss all inhabitants and hope that I can come back at some point.

Everyday I visited another family and did and got to know something different about the balinese culture.

The accommodation is great! The beds are comfy... The food is balinese and good.

I was lucky to be be the only student in the yoga classes. As I was a beginner, I really enjoyed this.

I am sure this is one of the - if not the - most authentic balinese cultural experience.

I wish Mr Adi success with his relatively new business.

I went to this retreat looking for yoga and meditation, and some relax. What happened those days is more that what I can tell just with words. I came back home feeling happier and really thankful.

Mr. Adi is waiting for you at the airport and bring you to the Village. From then on you enter in a new world, all the people I met, all theirs traditions, their kindness, their humble way of living, made me be in real contact with my inner self and realize what is really important in life.

I was the only 'tourist' in the village, the families around opened their doors an their hearts to me.

You need to experience this.

The whole retreat exceeded my expectations, the food they cooked was simply amazing, the room was clean and nice, the bed comfy, I couldn't ask for more.

"Beautiful retreat in real Bali"

Adi's and his family took such wonderful care of us while we were at his village. We did yoga in the morning and Talia Rossi which is the Balinese equivalent of tai chi and we did short meditation's. The food was delicious and prepare daily by his family. The daily cultural events which happened around the village in neighbors homes was a real treat and something I deeply treasured. The location is very beautiful and out of the regular tourist areas so that you feel like you're in the real Bali. I would recommend you spending an extra night and doing the tour with Adi, he takes you to a lovely temple, Hot Springs and the beach as well as lunch at his family's café in Tabanan. This is more like a cultural retreat where you get the best of all worlds. Very good for beginners .
