Why go on a Wellness Retreat in Bali?

Located in the Indonesian archipelago and blessed with a unique blend of natural beauty, rich culture, friendly locals, and a myriad of things to see and do, Bali is one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations and arguably the most popular destination in Asia when it comes to health and wellbeing.

This jewel of Indonesia is famous for its breathtaking scenery, great mountain peaks, amazing lakes, gorgeous beaches, jungle rainforest, majestic temples, picturesque rice fields and active volcanoes. All these beauties combined with its unique sense of spirituality make it an amazing location for a Wellness Holiday.

Besides all the natural beauty and spiritual vibes you can embrace in Bali, there’s so much more to enjoy on the island. Bali’s mouthwatering food, for instance, includes tasty options for vegan and vegetarian diets.

Moreover, you’ll get to experience firsthand their vivid culture, which has been influenced by Hinduism and Buddhism. There are over 10,000 temples, shrines and pilgrimage sites in all regions throughout the island, which is not only stunning on the outside but peaceful and still on the inside.

What can you expect from a Wellness Retreat in Bali?

Bali attracts millions of travelers each year from all over the world. Here, you can find holistic spas, Ayurvedic centers and world-renowned gurus. Some popular wellness activities to do in Bali are detox holidays and yoga retreats.

For those looking for outdoor activities, there are lots of hiking options. Mount Batur and Mount Agung have several trails you don’t want to miss. And if you enjoy cycling or motor-biking, Bali is the place to go. It is known for its world-class surf spots, too.

Bali has nice weather all year round with an average temperature of 28°C (82°F). The dry season takes place between May and September and it’s the busiest time of the year. It’ll be sunny all day and there’ll be a more joyful mood in the air. The wet season, on the other hand, lasts from October until April. During this time, the island is quieter but could be the perfect moment for a retreat in Bali.

Last but not least, Bali is a great place to go when traveling on a low budget, as you can find plenty of affordable holiday options on the island that offer lower prices compared with most touristic cities in Europe or the USA.

Popular Wellness Holiday destinations in Bali

There are several regions to travel to within Bali, one of the most popular being Ubud, a town where travelers can enjoy a Zen atmosphere and world-class wellness centers and resorts. In Ubud, you can also visit one of Bali’s most popular attractions, the Monkey Rainforest, which is home to hundreds of long-tailed macaques.

However, if you prefer the beach over Ubud’s jungle, Canggu is your best choice. Featuring a laidback atmosphere, slick restaurants, street art, a laid-back vibe and Instagram-friendly cafes, “The Gu” offers a more relaxed alternative to the beach resorts in other southern towns.

Seminyak is considered the high-end area of Bali; think of it as a more sophisticated version of Canggu. It’s a place where you can find fancy restaurants, sleek bars, deluxe boutiques and spas where you can get a traditional Balinese massage. All in all, this upscale resort village in Southern Bali is perfect to treat yourself and relax.

Not as secluded as Ubud, Canggu and Seminyak, but still worth visiting, Kuta and Jimbaran are two other places to visit within Bali. Kuta is close to the city center and offers a bustling beach, lots of cafes, shops, and bars; and Jimbarana has nice calm beaches and the Uluwatu Temple, one of the island’s six key temples believed to be Bali’s spiritual pillars.
