Alam-Kita

Her dream becomes reality to build a place for retreats on this beautiful island of Karimunjawa! A paradisiacal island in an oasis of peace where you can come all the way to yourself without all the stimuli of daily life. When she first came to Karimunjawa (January 2016), she immediately got the idea to start something like Alam Kita here. She is very happy when she sees people relaxing on the spot, find themselves again, and get the glint back in their eyes. Alam Kita provides a place for people to reconnect with themselves. An immersion in love and care from her.

In early 2009, Mary started writing a book and her daughter was still alive. Then, they had no idea what to expect. The book was published half a year later. Her daughter had passed away and Mary dedicated the book to her. Besides being a writer, Mary is also a visual artist. She had been a guest curator twice for exhibitions with the theme of death, “Death Eaters” and “Lecho de Muerte” (deathbed). Her autonomous work also comes from the same theme. Mary makes reliefs with eggshells that symbolize life and death, and thus, also symbolize “the great mystery”.

Astrid is British and lives on the island of Karimunjawa together with her local husband Tono and her 2 young children. In 2020 she went to India to get her Yoga Instructor lisence (YTT 200hrs) and since than she is a very succesfull yoga instructor in Karimunjawa and for Alam Kita.

Angelike works from the power of your voice and fully occupying your space. She guides you from a deep connection with the body towards more freedom, self-confidence, and authenticity. With a broad background in Mindfulness, Breathwork, Voice Dialogue, Soul Voice, and family constellations, Angelike effortlessly weaves various methods into her guidance.

Wawan is a freelance guide for hiking, camping, snorkeling, turtle sanctuaries, and spearfishing, and is also involved in caring for a vegetable garden and working with herbs and plants in a healing context.

Evi, always cheerful, friendly, and funny. She is the jack-of-all-trades at Alam Kita and also assists with the ceremonies. Evi works as a hostess and guide at Alam Kita, with experience in staff coordination, accountancy, and as a personal assistant to Margo.

Pri reconnects people with their emotions, heart, and body through her spontaneous, intuitive, and empathetic approach. Pri will facilitate the cacao ceremony and Ecstatic Dance. Pri was born in Indonesia and lives in Belgium.

Hesti is originally from Jepara and can cook delicious Indonesian food!

Rianne, with her passion for cooking, her specialty: Coffee!

Tono, born and raised on Karimunjawa, is married to Astrid. Full of zest for life and with a beautiful voice. He plays Guitar and Ukulele.
