These are the equipment that you will need during the hiking program:

  • Light hiking shoes or hiking boots
  • Hiking poles (Trail Path can provide if you don’t have any)
  • Backpack of at least 40 liters
  • Waterproof backpack cover
  • Clothing according to the weather conditions
  • Sleeping bag or sheets for the refuges
  • Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Waterproof jacket or membrane
  • Light snack
  • Bottle of water 1.5 liters
  • Hygiene items and personal medicines
  • Headlamp

Itinerary:

Day 1: Dion – Petrostrougga mountain hut

  • Distance: 10km
  • Duration: 5 to 6 hours

The day starts in Litochoro, where the group will meet and head together towards Dion, the starting point of the hiking tour. The route you will cover on the first day is a ten-kilometer route approximately six hours with stops, and is one of the most popular hiking trails on Mt. Olympus. Most of this route passes through dense pine, beech, and fir forests and is in good condition.

The ending point of the first day is the Petrostrougga refuge, where the group will spend the night in the refuge.

Day 2: Petrostrougga mountain hut – Muses Plateau

  • Distance: 10km
  • Duration: 4 to 5 hours

After waking up and having breakfast, the group will leave for the Muses Plateau, passing Skourta peak, the spectacular horizontal ridge of Laimos, and the famous pass of Yossos. Upon arriving at the plateau, participants can enjoy the unique throne of Zeus and the surrounding peaks. If the weather permits, they will hike to Prophet Ilias (2,803m) and see its chapel.

Day 3: Muses Plateau - High Peaks - Spilios Agapitos mountain hut

  • Distance: 10km
  • Duration: 6 to 7 hours

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the magnificent view and sunrise from the Muses Plateau, and after having breakfast, the group will cross Zonaria, heading for Mt. Olympus' high peaks according to weather conditions, and end up at the Spilios Agapitos hut for the night.

Day 4: Spilios Agapitos Refuge – Prionia – Enipeas Gorge

  • Distance: 10km
  • Duration: 6 to 7 hours

During the last day, participants will head to Prionia, then to Enipeas Gorge with the wonderful waters, waterfall, and the wooden bridges, then the cave of Saint Dionysios and its chapel.

Location

Renowned for its mythological significance as the home of the Greek gods, the Mount Olympus trek offers various routes. This hiking tour will start at Litochoro, where the group will first meet together.
