Program
Day 1 - Kigali – Nyagatare (159km / 98.8 miles)
Leaving the busy city roads behind, you will ride smaller country roads towards the north. Hit the main road again for a short while, before entering a small offroad track that leads you into the small town of Nyagatare.
Day 2 - Nyagatare - Ruhengeri (169km / 105 miles)
The day starts with a challenging offroad track that will take most of the morning. The main road crossing will be used to get a good lunch, before you hit a long gravel road towards the twin lakes. You take the northern gravel road around to top lake for the best views. Ruhengeri is the gorilla tracking centre of Rwanda, it became a bustling town.
Day 3 - Ruhengeri – Gitesi (160km / 99.41 miles)
You leave town using the busy main road. You will have a few offroad detours before arriving at your small local lunch outlet. Shortly after you will enter the famous Congo Nile Trail. You can expect some challenges on the way, since the road is prone to landslides. The track ends just north of Gitesi on the shores of Lake Kivu, looking at Congo on the other side.
Day 4 - Gitesi – Kigali (167km / 103.76 miles)
The last riding day will be done over gravel roads for most of the morning. This area is famous for the extensive tea plantations. The last few hours of the day will be a bit busier approaching Kigali.
Bike
During this tour, you will ride a Haojin 200cc.
Bike rental deposit
Bike rental and the deposit fee are included in the package, so customers do not need to arrange this themselves. However, the price does not cover any damage costs during the trip. If any parts are damaged and cannot be repaired on the spot, Zebra Trails will have them checked at a garage, and the cost will be confirmed after the trip.
Riding gear
Riding gear is not included, so customers will need to bring their own. A helmet is mandatory, and Zebra Trails strongly encourages riders to bring proper riding gear for safety, as you will be riding every day during the trip.
