There is much to see and do in Khao Lak. There are beautiful beaches to swim in, waterfalls and parks to visit, shop and eat in the fresh food market, and water activities including snorkeling and diving in the world-famous Similan Islands. There is a horse farm, a golf driving range, a golf course, and elephant camps, all close to the camp as well.
Beaches near the camp
On Saturday mornings, you train at the beach. If the weather is good you hop on the scooters and pick-up trucks and head to Khuk Kak Beach, about 2 km from the camp.
Snorkeling and diving trips to the nearby Similan and Surin Islands are by far the most spectacular thing you can do while visiting Khao Lak. These tropical islands are open only during the high season only (mid-October to Mid May). Our good friend, Olof, offers boat trips to Similan Islands. He focuses on snorkeling tours to the world-famous islands where you can see marine life at its best. For more information, you can visit the Poseidon Similan Tours website.
Downtown Khao Lak is located 5 km south of the camp. You will find restaurants, shops, markets, banks, hotels, and more here. Downtown is only a few blocks long and very quiet in the low season (April - October).
Near the gym, you can find beautiful waterfalls worth visiting. Tuk's favorite is a beautiful waterfall in thailandSai Rung Waterfall (also known as Pak Weep Waterfall or Rainbow Waterfall). Is it located near the Pullman Resort Hotel and Beyond Resort Hotel, about 15 minutes from the camp? The best time to visit the waterfall is in the rainy season, from June - October.
About 1 hour away from the camp you can reach Khao Sok National Park. It is immense and offers everything from elephant trekking, cave, and river tours, floating bungalows, and beautiful flora to gaze at. The best time of the year to visit is from November to May.
In Bang Niang (about 3 km from the camp) and downtown Khao Lak (about 5 km from the camp), there are lots of restaurants to choose from. They recommend: Green Pepper, Jai, Smile, Pad Thai, Mango Cafe, and Aon Cafe, pretty much, if there are lots of people eating then the restaurant is good.
Khaolak Horse Club is located 5 km from Rawai Muay Thai camp, on the road to Chongfah Waterfall. Khun Ju, the owner of the club, has a beautiful horse ranch and offers horseback riding lessons and trails. You can ride the horses through mountain trails and on the beach!
You can golf at the Navy Golf Course in Thap Lamu which is located about 15 minutes South of the gym. This beautiful 18-hole golf course has a stunning view of the Andaman Sea.
