Learn the art of living mindfully on a Zen Meditation Retreat. A form of Buddhist meditation, Zen is traditionally practiced sitting down on a cushion in the lotus position.
It could easily be described as sitting silently without doing anything. But Zen is more than just sitting; it is a state of mind that extends to all life activities.
Posture is of great importance. In an upright position, with a straight spine, open shoulders, and soft belly, your body should be neither too tense, nor too relaxed. The eyes stay semi-open without a focused gaze.
On a Zen Meditation Holiday, the instructors will first help you correct your posture. Then, you’ll control the breath going through your belly. You become aware of the sensations and thoughts passing by. You see things as they really are, without judgment. Then, you steady the mind, thinking about nothing and keeping it from wandering.
Ultimately, you integrate all of these into an awakening mind-body experience. The end goal is to let go and experience your true nature.
